In the end? I think we should all be happy that Eva finally escaped limbo, that we can watch it in glorious HD, and when we recommend it to friends we can end the thought with "you should watch it, it's on Netflix".
I'm willing to bet that it simply boils down to it being a copyright issue. Netflix had a similar issue with Tiger and Bunny, and Crunchyroll/ Viz have it with Jojo's. I honestly don't think it's that big of a deal.
