Student-led, multidisciplinary fieldwork support group. Based at the University of Cambridge | Endorsed by @graduateunion & @CUSUonline | [email protected]
The Fieldwork Student Support group has been set up for those partaking in fieldwork research, across all fields and departments. The aim is to create a safe space in which we can come together in solidarity to share tips, experiences, resources, and support.
Today me and @libertyruth met with @csandbrook to discuss fieldwork safety. It is wonderful to have a chance to be part of work trying to help prevent and manage the risk of misconduct during fieldwork, and ensuring it is safe and enjoyable for all!
Please sign this open letter calling for action from @SAAorg in light of the horrific events that have taken place at this years conference. #saa2019#metoostem#metoo#timesup

“Silence also serves to hide mishandling of cases, removing accountability from institutions and preventing any reform: without exposing the problem we cannot learn from the mistakes of the past.”

'We must take the conversation out of social media and into the discipline itself, we must be supported by our institutions and departments in doing so, and we must do so in a way that uplifts the voices of those who have been victimised by perpetrators in our fields.' 👏👏
ENORMOUS thanks to @anthroqveer who has written a blog on sexual harassment in archaeology, now published on our website. Please read, retweet and contribute to the survey on safety in fieldwork contexts. (link to survey in blog) https://t.co/g7ogAW7FHM
Our founder @anthroqveer has been featured in a piece by @stjohnscam discussing how this group was formed for #IWD2019 - check it out!
'Outreach initiatives mean nothing if women and minority groups are entering an unsafe and hostile environment.' 👏👏

🌟We are proud to launch the 'Conflict Navigation Flowchart' for Ph.D. students. This is a major project undertaken by the 'Graduate Rights' campaign team led by the Vice-President of @GraduateUnion @NikkiHari in partnership with @_StudentAdvice & Univ service providers.
Many personal decisions r made & problems solved throu discussions with friends/family/College Tutor/Director of Studies/colleague etc. However, at times it is right to seek help away from one’s familiar environment. The UCS exists to meet such a need✔️ https://t.co/tSz22jEPBS
Heritage & archaeology peeps! Can you please this share the existence of this new group. Aim is to develop a buddy system for women in the profession, & match up people working across heritage to provide support and advice https://t.co/pJSqcLN3wL @CIfA_Equality#WomeninBusiness
Also, we are still looking for people to join our team! Whether you are based in Cambridge and want to help out with events, or want to get involved remotely from anywhere in the world, get in touch: [email protected]
It can sometimes feel like nothing is changing, when actually the most incredible women, nb individuals and allies are working tirelessly to help improve our disciplines and make them a safe space for all. Lets not forget to stop and celebrate all of these good things!
We apologise for the inactivity recently...
To make up for it: a short thread of very good and promising work on exposing and combating sexual harassment over the past few weeks:
And @DrEOChapman won the Royal Society's Athena Prize for her work on sexual harassment in higher education! An incredible achievement. Congratulations! 🥳 https://t.co/GymPALZobQ
