It just wouldn't be me without diving into the crazy and random side of Gundam, now would it? Today I'm previewing one of the proposals vying to become the next Gundam after Gundam X! Just to be clear, R Gundam was one of several titles floated during the planning phase, and it never saw adaptation into any sort of visual media or merchandising. The title originally dropped in RPG Magazine, which highlighted that the project was in development! But, the whole endeavor wound its way through a long and tangled journey and eventually resurfaced under a completely different name! True to its title, this was a project born from the era of alternate universe Gundam series ushered in by Mobile Fighter G Gundam in 1994.

When After War Gundam X met an early and abbreviated end due to decisions on the broadcaster's side, a wave of proposals emerged vying to become the next Gundam, and this was among them. What cemented this project in the collective memory of fans was, in all likelihood, the fate it met after its official title had been settled. With the prospect of a new televised Gundam series placed on indefinite hold, the project was retooled and redirected toward serialization as a comic.
