The discussions on youth also point towards a larger opportunity for banking.
We need to increasingly think in terms of the customer's financial life cycle rather than individual products.
A young student becomes an employee or entrepreneur. A micro enterprise can grow into a small and then a medium enterprise. A depositor can become an investor and a wealth-management customer.
Our banks should be able to accompany customers through these transitions rather than engage with them only for a particular transaction.
This requires institutions to understand customers better and anticipate how their requirements will change over time.
