#sapsKZN #SAPS divers from DBN & PMB SAR along with #K9 SAR were called to Marianhill earlier today. A boy (14) drowned in the Umlazi River yesterday. A dive operation was conducted after K9Bear & K9Ghost indicated an area where the victim had drowned. The body was recovered. SW

When waves break on a beach, they push water towards the shoreline.

Once that water reaches the shore, it must find a way back to sea, so it flows into deeper channels, known as rip currents (or rips).

They sometimes flow directly out to sea, or circulate back to shore.
