2020 has left an everlasting impression of the importance of teaching my first love, social sciences. Truth, democracy , ethics, leadership, media, etc. Maybe it’s this decade’s STEM?
As my fellow educators prepare to "reopen" our schools, I encourage all of us to remember that Coronavirus is the problem. The pandemic is our foe. Please be kind to one another as we do our very best, fail, regroup, and try again. Being distant is not in our DNA.

So true, our teachers have learned more about creative ways to use technology tools in the last 5 months, than if we would have focused on them for 3 years. Necessity does wonders.

A5 It's important to truly know what you are capable of doing in a day's time and focus on the core mission. You can't be "all" to the group in front of you and the group at home. Therefore, do what you can do really well!

A4 I really think we should send art supplies (and other school materials) home now (assuming you're starting in-person) so there is less of a surprise if we close abruptly
@conniedraws Take care of the kids first, help them become better learners and creators next, the PLC, and those other pieces need to come after. Sometimes we have to decide which balls are we can "drop" that are less important, especially now.
@MrCCrespo In my experience as a school administrator, the art classrooms are SEL by the nature of kids being able to take safe risks, make mistakes, restart, and express themselves. You all control that!
@EvansArtHouse One step ahead of me on the attitude part. We're all going to need to "unplug" more once we are back in school (regardless of what "back in school" looks like)
