Its so funny how having my PhD in biomedical engineering /neuroscience research feels so like, irrelevant and simple and silly to bring up and then i start talking about any of it and ppl are like wtf are these words
@GrimArtsTCG I will say, I'd definitely be frustrated by a common friend being invited without asking me though! I usually kinda budget social energy pretty precisely and someone throwing that off last minute would be someone i'd have to have a convo with about that being upsetting
I feel like the character here is intended to be a little controversial lol but regardless I do think this is actually mostly helpful social advice. It's very easy to just neutrally be distant Instagram friends and never get closer bc u have to find ways to escalate connection
@GrimArtsTCG yeahhh it's definitely made to be projected on tbh haha. I do think it's kinda funny that so many people are really presuming how the absent friends feel, like we really only get this common connection's thoughts.
@GrimArtsTCG This video is ofc funny bc talking about the plans to someone not invited is so rude, but then asking to be invited is also generally rude, but ameliorated by the fact that if you hear plans out loud its more reasonable to think you would be welcome.
@GrimArtsTCG unless it was someone I was like Desperate to be friends with id be pretty opposed to a change in plans kinda no matter what most times. I think the most common case of this stuff is ppl newly in relationships thinking they can bring their partner
@GrimArtsTCG I think she could invite them to dinner! But like also joining just with her friend wouldn't rly help deepen connection anyway imo bc it would all be mediated by the friend which rly changes the communication of intent to put effort into spending time together
@GrimArtsTCG It definitely depends on the nature of the dinner a little bit but in general i think it's rude to invite a plus one at the last minute. Also though my read is not that they particularly love her but that they passively like her but don't rly know her that well
@MegabusMogul Like, for example someone inviting me over for dinner is a higher energy hang than like, inviting someone to meet you at an event you'll be at anyway where there's planned activities, or even just a shorter coffee where you say ahead of time you only have like half an hour
@MegabusMogul Honestly I think you just have to keep looking for ppl that will actually be equal players! There's definitely just a lot of ppl that are less interested in big social events these days. Also though, potentially lower energy interactions at first?
