Heartbreaking and deeply disturbing.

An 18-year-old #kashmiri boy, who had come to #Uttarakhand with his family to sell shawls and earn an honest living during the harsh winter, was brutally attacked this evening in the Vikas Nagar area.

According to his family, the boy was first questioned about who he was and where he came from. The moment it was revealed that they were #Muslims from #Kashmir the situation turned violent. A group of people assaulted him mercilessly beating him with iron rods, punching him repeatedly and leaving him severely injured. His left arm has been fractured, and he suffered serious head injuries, with blood reportedly flowing from his head after the attack. Other family members were also dragged, slapped, and assaulted.

He was initially taken to a local hospital and later referred to Doon Hospital, Dehradun, due to the seriousness of his condition.

This is not just an attack on one boy it is an attack on humanity. An #18YearOld trying to support his family with dignity was met with hatred instead of compassion. Such incidents expose the dangerous normalisation of communal profiling, mob violence, and intimidation against vulnerable communities.

We appeal strongly to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, @pushkardhami Ji to intervene immediately, ensure the registration of a strict FIR, and take firm legal action against all those involved. Accountability is essential not only for justice in this case, but to send a clear message that hate driven violence will not be tolerated.

The Constitution guarantees safety and dignity to every citizen, irrespective of religion, region, or identity. The State has a moral and constitutional responsibility to uphold this promise.

Violence born out of hatred cannot be allowed to become routine. Justice must be swift, firm, and visible. Is this the “atoot ang” we are told to believe in?
