What our bodies absorbed as children is very different from what many of us expose them to today.
Back then as a kid, for skin and hair, it was usually shea butter, palm kernel oil, coconut oil, or olive oil.
Today, we rub countless products on our bodies in the name of skincare, beauty, and self-care.
The same way we eat and swallow food is the same way whatever we wear or rub on our bodies gets absorbed through our sweat back into our bodies.
I remember, as a child, that if I walked past my grandmother and she could still smell detergent on my clothes, she would call me back immediately to change into something else and put what I was wearing in the laundry bag…
At the time, it made no sense to me.
Back then, clothes were washed and rinsed thoroughly... not once, not twice, sometimes three or four times.
Same with toothpaste, there are people today who would rather keep a dirty mouth than brush with certain modern toothpastes if they cannot find charcoal, a chewing stick, or a truly herbal alternative.
As funny as it may sound, the things we call old-fashioned” today kept us more alive back in the days.
Some people don't care how expensive your body cream is or how flawless your skin looks.
If it isn't made from the natural oils they trust, they won't use it.
The same conversation applies to relaxers, hair products, etc... Everything we put on our bodies becomes part of us for more than 24 hours and that is ticktock to either happiness or sorrow.
The illnesses we fear the most may not always arrive as strangers... sometimes they live in the same house with us, eat with us, drink with us for 365 days a year.
The attached screenshot is a research of what used to be my fav brand for both body & hair as of last year. It is a very popular and well-recommended cream/soap in Nigeria.
If only many of you would take your time to understand the things you survive on, maybe then you would get a clear understanding that cancer, kidney issues, etc., don't just appear from anywhere.
Health is wealth.
On guard ️.
