And above all, I now believe this:
The scandal is no longer just what Peter Murrell did.
The scandal is what Scotland’s institutions appear willing to do to make sure the public never gets the full story.
THREAD 🧵1/10
In June 2021 I published research on the SNP's missing ring-fenced indyref funds. Cherry, Chapman, and three finance committee members resigned citing obstruction. The media largely looked away.On 26 May, Murrell pleaded guilty to twelve years of embezzlement. The guilty plea isn't the reckoning. It's the moment the reckoning becomes unavoidable.

The SNP didn't just hide this. They developed a remarkably specific grammar of evasion.
Funds that were "frozen" became "woven through" the accounts. A First Minister who said finances were managed "on a cash flow basis" — when the party used accrual accounting. An auditor fraud flag that was never made public.
Technically defensible in isolation. Collectively incoherent side by side.
After @Keir_Starmer accused @elonmusk of whipping up division I thought I’d share some of the misogynistic abuse and death threats I’ve received on this platform. 👀

Sarah Michelle Gellar has paid a beautiful tribute to Anthony Stewart Head via instagram 🕊️
““Tell Giles I figured it out and I’m ok” Well I don’t have it figured out and I’m not ok. But I know I’m the lucky one because I knew you. Thank you to Daisy and Emily who not only shared their dad with me, but with the world”

"It's just wrong... and I can't help but think that it's about making money. The tickets themselves cost a fortune - far too expensive in my view. Think of the fans"
The @Daily_Record is right.
John Swinney’s failure to back an inquiry is a sign of a weak leader and a toxic culture in the SNP.

"🏴 Just imagine how much more we could do with the fresh start of independence."
So we now have to imagine the economic case seeing as they still can't produce one!
This is my beautiful friend Jeannie, who devastatingly died earlier this year while waiting for #Enhertu.
Jeannie campaigned tirelessly, desperate for more time with her children, husband, family and friends. She knew this treatment could have her extra precious months, yet she never got the chance to access it.
Please sign the petition and urge @NICEComms to approve this life extending drug. We cannot allow thousands more women with HER2-low metastatic breast cancer to miss out on treatment and die before their time @jamesmurray_ldn

@LucyHunterB I hope so but as all she has to do is read the answer printed out for her I have my doubts! PQ should be cleared by DD before going to Minister’s office.
@ka8895 And the Business Managers of opposition (I don’t count Greens as opposition) parties seemed to agree without a whimper. I’ve always thought it was a huge flaw not to have a second chamber in Holyrood even more so now.
Very embarrassing from @S_A_Somerville who replied to @MeghanSCUP saying the West Lothian school ruling was about "different legislation" to the Equality Act.
No, it was found to be indirect discrimination under the terms of EA2010. It's clearly amateur hour at Holyrood!
Rather disappointing to see that the Cabinet Secretary cite the wrong statute in an answer today 4 June 2026. EHRC guidance is isssued and subject to UK Parliament approval under Section 14 of the Equality Act 2006 and not the 2010 Act.
This makes no sense. The Yes Scotland Limited accounts show large amounts of money but it isn't accounted for in the accounts? Where did the £2.4 million go? What was it spent on? I can only see £800,000 being spent. Did Peter Murrell and Nicola Sturgeon take it? Was it transferred into the #SNP? @BlairJenkinsYes@PoliceScotland
