The DWP stripped benefits from a boy who is wheelchair-bound, blind, and nonverbal, and tried to force him into finding work.
Rock legend Sir Rod Stewart heard and donated £5k to help. You should be ashamed. @stephenctimms@patmcfaddenmp@andyburnham https://t.co/RQhDFLIO5W
Forcing disabled young people the DWP has already declared unfit for work into employment whilst cutting Access to Work and spreading propaganda about how disabled benefit claimants are all faking scroungers, wheres this "hope" you speak of @UKLabour@andyburnham?
I know it can't happen ..but this country needs @Keir_Starmer ..his cool calm leadership was irreplaceable..he was on the ball..just got on with his job ...can't tell you how much people miss you keir..we had a statesman..now we have an egotistical idiot playing at being Pm...
This country is done for. .. we really was on the up under keirs government..now all lost.
Hold your head high @Keir_Starmer ..you served us with integrity and grace..a decent kind guy to boot..a giant on the world stage..I could go on and on..but I'll just say thankyou keir..you will be missed...you made a huge difference to our country for the better ..sad day.
Dear @Keir_Starmer. I doubt you see these posts, but I shall post anyway. Tonight is the last night we can call you PM. I just wanted to say thank you. Thanks for bringing decency to politics. Thanks for turning our country around. Wishing you, Vic and family all the best 💙
Absolutely 100% yes..so proud of what you have achieved..you should have had longer ..I can't help but be so angry and so sad at the same time about you being hounded out of office.
I’m finding all this ‘join Labour’ stuff really odd.
None of you have had a single word to say to the existing membership about what you have done, it’s like you don’t even care.
Why would new members expect to be treated any differently?
Dear @LucyMPowell ,
Thank you for your email.
I must admit, however, that I found its opening rather insulting.
You write that Andy Burnham was "elected" Leader of the Labour Party. He was not elected by Labour members. He was installed without giving the membership any say in the decision. To present that as a democratic mandate is, at best, misleading, at worst an utter insult to our intelligence.
You also write that Andy is acknowledging something "politicians too often avoid". He may instead wish to acknowledge something politicians should avoid even more often: uniting behind closed doors to conspire against an elected party leader and prime minister.
That is why his leadership begins with an original sin. Whatever he may achieve in office, the fact remains that his authority rests on bypassing the very members who are now being asked to rally behind him. Seriously? I believe you're taking people for granted, and that is yet another insult.
That stain will not disappear simply by asking us to forget how he arrived here and your role in it. We won't.
You speak about Labour's "mission". But this mission was not Andy Burnham's. It was the programme Labour members voted for. It was the programme carried into government by the leader we elected. If that democratic choice can be overturned without consulting us, why should members have any confidence that their vote, their voice or their trust matters at all?
Finally, you ask me to persuade others to join the Labour Party.
Why would I encourage anyone to join a party that has just demonstrated to its own members that they can be ignored when it matters most?
The only reason I may do so is to ensure there will be more voices wanting to see the whole lot of you traitors out the door when the day will come. And hopefully it will.
Respectfully,
Alessandra
Well, I've scrolled through most of the replies and can't find anyone who's willing to take up this offer, Gail, or confirm they've joined.
Plenty who are telling you where to get off though.
And why.
Maybe take heed.
Thank you President @ZelenskyyUa! There are so many of us who are devastated at what has happened to @Keir_Starmer - the best PM we’ve had in decades - and at the interruption of his good work in supporting Ukraine and you. #SlavaUkraïni
@TSSAunion@MEslamdoust You are joking?
Many of us have left in disgust at this coup. Some people have been members for decades and are devastated at what you are supporting. That is, a man who runs away when the going gets tough and who puts personal achievement over everything else.
Shame on you.
So, chancellor Merz values Keir Starmer's views & opinions & will stay in close contact.
France affords one of the highest honours to Keir Starmer
President Zelensky afford the freedom of Ukraine to Keir Starmer.
Labour part hierarchy, oust him as PM.
Make it make sense.
The thing is @CatherineWest1 - you might be backing Andy, but a lot of the party membership, (now rapidly declining in numbers, check if you don’t believe me) think the unchallenged removal of Keir Starmer is plain wrong, as is what you #labourmps have done. Think on.
Together with UK Prime Minister @Keir_Starmer, we paid tribute to the fallen Ukrainian warriors. I thank Keir and the United Kingdom for their unwavering respect for our warriors, for all those who made the ultimate sacrifice to defend Ukraine and all of Europe.
It is important to always remember the heroism of all our people who stood up for Ukraine. Eternal gratitude to every man and woman who defended Ukraine against Russian aggression.
