I wrote this about @Keir_Starmer on 7 July 2024, days after he won a phenomenal landslide. I remember the joy and light that flooded Twitter. Finally! A PM we could be proud of. A lot of us haven't forgotten that monumental achievement. #starmermuststay

From Tom Baldwin's biography of @Keir_Starmer:
"Jamie Burton, a barrister at Starmer's old Doughty Street chambers and a regular in his eight-a-side games, [told people who said Keir could never win a GE] “Just watch – he’ll win – it’s what happens to this guy.” On a football pitch, just like when he was a barrister, he’s always in the right place at the right time – goals out of nowhere – he only knows how to win.’"
I reckon he would have beaten @andyburnham if there'd been no foul play. It says everything about Burnham, who could never even win the Labour leadership by honest means.
I'm still disgusted by it all. It boils down to this: Keir Starmer is a winner. Andy Burnham is a low-down thief.
@LaindonFEMINIST@HKane getting the award is wonderful. Re @Keir_Starmer, there's such a stark difference between this country and the way European leaders viewed him. Thank God for the awards he received from France and the Ukraine.
This man @andyburnham is out of his depth..making the government and the UK seem like a laughing stock with zero credibility ... his TikTok theatrics ... blabber mouth and idiotic clowning around has made us look unserious with no real leadership..also all @Keir_Starmer hard work on the international stage has been unravelled ..because Burnham now makes us look incompetent.
We unfortunately now have a circus run by a clown.
You've just announced someone else's policies. Even your leaked budget is now announcing things when we have the receipts for them being announced by Rachel Reeves. You're a political fraud. A charlatan. A weathervane. Ken Clarke got it right. Populist! https://t.co/cJAkcl43em
President Lula states that he will "go all out" against Meta, saying that Brazil will not accept a foreign company negatively influencing Brazilians and humanity with a "digital empire."
@LaindonFEMINIST The Vatican Secretary of State Pietro Parolin said that Pope Leo called Putin on 16 October 2026 to plead for a humanitarian corridor. The Kremlin has confirmed this. I think Melania just worked with officials. Sloppy reporting from Sky, whoever it was. But that's not unusual.
BREAKING: A top GOP official accidentally said on a hot mic, “If Netanyahu loses reelection in Israel, and Democrats in the US win subpoena power in both chambers of Congress, all I can say is Jared Kushner is completely, totally, utterly, historically, spectacularly f*cked.”
Brilliant statesman @MarkJCarney is pulling together the middle powers so they can withstand Trump & Putin & defend Ukraine etc.
@andyburnham & @JohnHealey_MP have snubbed him. They've got a better plan. Which isolates the UK.
Un. Fucking. Believable.

NEW: Britain is walking away from joining the Canada-led international Defence, Security & Resilience Bank
@FT first revealed last month that the UK was exploring the proposal, including an option to merge the DSRB with the Multilateral Defence Mechanism (MDM), a separate UK-spearheaded international defence initiative.
Talks broke down over merger, including disagreement about locations of proposed headquarters, acc to officials briefed on the matter.

🚨Ex-Chancellor Reeves Faces Standards Probe Over City Meetings Timed With Budget
Former Chancellor Rachel Reeves has been referred to Sir Laurie Magnus, the Independent Adviser on Ministerial Standards, after reports she and former aide Ben Nunn met two City firms in recent weeks to discuss political advice via Nunn’s new consultancy. Conservatives, citing Mail on Sunday claims that the talks involved executives she previously met as Chancellor and came just ahead of the Budget, argue this risks breaching Business Appointment Rules designed to stop former ministers exploiting privileged contacts or information. With the Budget imminent and speculation she may leave Parliament to monetise her experience, the timing looks awkward at best. Reeves has not publicly responded. The rules exist precisely to prevent the perception of cashing in on ministerial access—yet Labour’s critics say the facts already suggest one standard for them and another for everyone else. No finding of wrongdoing has been made.
In 2024 and after, when Musk was working for Trump and the most awful people were in his govt, and universities and law firms caved to him, and ICE was slaughtering people - it looked like America was finished.
But look at it now.
The West can defeat the far right.
In one day, two politicians - Bolsonaro in Brazil and Vucic in Serbia - with ties to Trump and his family have lost surprise elections, thanks to high turnout. The rise of the international far-right is not inevitable.
Rag, Tag and Bobtail.
Their communications are all over the place.
Having agreed a coup they're not quite sure what to do, what the message is, or even what the policies are.
🚨Breaking: Further panic in Downing St tonight at the growing realisation power cuts will halt TikTok. The Govt will now issue battery powered "What the Butler saw" machines to all households. Reels included: Andy drinks a pint, Andy eats Pork Scratchings and Andy boards a bus.
