Good afternoon Beautiful Souls! We hope you're doing well!

As many of you know, our son Salias has had breathing issues since he was born the worst, starting at 12 days. He will randomly stop breathing and turn blue (sometimes completely sometimes right around his mouth) when he is awake or asleep. He also has a very rare pressure dependent mass in his throat as well, and there are only 42 reported cases on it.

We still don't know if that is the cause for his issues or not but we have had some very severe episodes lately that have resulted in having to give him CPR because he went completely limp and unresponsive after turning purple. Due to the severity, we finally got to get into Cleveland Clinic with the new pulminologist. They were not able to get him in until the end of August, but due to the severity of the last few episodes, they wanted him in as soon as possible. Luckily, this new one seems great and really wants to help us get to the bottom of this FINALLY. We are pretty much having to start from scratch and then some. Salias has another sleep study for August 31st at 6:30 p.m.. they results for thay may indicate the next course of action. She also wants him to have genetic testing, see their ENT (to monitor the mass), a swallow study, and possibly more to come. She is afraid that since Salias has not yet outgrown these issues, it is time to figure out the cause for them.

Right now we are having a major issue with his insurance as they have been denying past claims and procedures due to not having a diagnosis, despite his medical conditions (which is a long list on his my chart) showing under his health issues. They also kicked him off of insurance as of June 1st. This may affect if the testing can still be done, and even so, it will all be out of pocket. Based on the sleep study, they may be obligated to do surgery, especially if the mass is affecting him. They are going to try to put him on CHIP, but even then, that will not cover specialists, testing, diagnostics, and more. Of course, which is what we will be enduring to finally get to the bottom of this.

As much as we are pained to do this, we are asking for your help, please. We can not begin to express our gratitude towards you and all that you do and for all of the prayers. We have only gotten by you, and by the grace of God!

We also would like to seek the help of Dr. Craig if possible. He has been so gracious to try and help but we have not been able to get to him due to finances, and due to the risk of travel for Salias (it is unknown if the mass will be affected by flying and we cannot risk his airway being cut off especiallyfor an extende period of time).
We are already having a difficult trying to make it just across the state for his new care team.

Unfortunately, we are in a really bad position right now. We fear it may prevent Salias from getting the care he needs and deserves.
