The last 6 weeks have been a real career highlight for me working on Colin Matthews’ A Visit To Friends with @BrittenPears - and it couldn’t have gone better. So grateful to the whole team for such dedication and commitment to making it a hugely special and successful show ❤️
@erinna77 @KingBobIIV@jeremycorbyn Idiotic comment. It’s wrong what Israel are doing in Gaza, but it’s absolutely incomparable to what the Nazis did. They are not trying to wipe out a race, or gassing people or throwing babies from windows, etc etc. Watch what you’re saying.
scene to the world of opera, where tragic heroines are celebrated and the worshippers lose themselves to the music. It is grand, appalling, wild and intimate. I’m so happy to have had the chance to not only sing the soprano role but also to act in scenes with professional actors!
In July I had the pleasure of recording a very unique piece at the RBB (Berlin’s equivalent to the BBC) studios. The part techno-opera, part radio play, called ‘Exzess’ is based on the real life story of a tourist who dies in one of Berlin’s holiest clubs. It compares the club ➡️
And… that’s a wrap!
What a wonderful 3 days of recording with this talented team. I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to play with the medium of Radio drama. Not only did we do tons of singing experiments but I also got to fulfil a dream of doing some straight acting…🤓

Once in a while a project comes along that feels like a perfect fit. The best colleagues, amazing music, the thrill of something that feels relevant and new. “Exzess” is a Techno-Opera recorded for radio @rbb24 in which I play Jessica, the one who died in *that* club. 🎧🎶🤩
Standing ovation for wonderful Pina Bausch and Stravinsky at the @StaatsoperBLN - the first time I’ve managed to get here since moving to Berlin.
Joyous evening 👏👏👏🌱🌱🌱
After hearing @lizburley581 play The Swan from Carnival of the Animals so beautifully at home, my little girl is obsessed and can’t get enough of hearing you @kathystott & @YoYo_Ma play it on Spotify 💕 🦢🎻
Greatly saddened to hear that the soprano (and mezzo) Kathryn Harries – a former director of the National Opera Studio @natoperastudio – died yesterday at the age of 72.
Our final Giulio Cesare is underway in Exeter Northcote Theatre tonight. We are all a bit emosh at the end of this era, but I’m so happy to have had the experience of living with Cleopatra after the show was cancelled in 2020. Grateful to James Conway & @ETOpera for this chance💖
reorient itself around her appearances.
And for Cesare:
Hurrell is centre stage here, too: playing Cleopatra with a stately grace and a voice (alternately plangent and proud) that’s disarmingly seductive.

Lovely review in @spectator for @ETOpera Viaggio
Susanna Hurrell, meanwhile, as the poetess Corinna, was the one character who seemed to exist in more than two dimensions: singing with unforced poise and moving with a self-possession that made the whole show seem to pause and…
