Just dumping random thoughts before going to sleep.

So if you are planning to invest your 5, 10, or 20 or maybe the rest of your life doing something for the majority of your time,

Then I believe it will not hurt you to at least spend a year or two bluntly doing FAFO (fuck around and find out) instead of optimising it.

Because it’s life, and life is unfair. You can never optimise for the future every single time.

Now the next part is for those who think they don’t have time.

So when I was in 11th standard, I thought I’m pretty late and people of my age (15–17) are doing a hell lot of things.

So I started learning Java and did DSA, hated programming at its core.

Learned Kotlin, built an app.
Didn’t understand a single thing, but the tutorial did the job.

Then in 12th I thought, let’s try a different field.

Learned C.
Tried programming Arduino Uno.
Then app dev again but with Flutter.
Then AI/ML.
Tried robotics too.

Failed in all of them.

So I concluded that probably this is not my field.

College first year.

Still trying different stuff.
So I started an online dropshipping business (2 of them failed ofc).

Then learned video editing, got an internship.
In the first month learned graphic designing too.

I loved it.
Read books and watched tons of tutorials.

Spent most of my time learning and unskilled myself.

Started freelancing, failed.
Got another internship for video editing.

Side by side opened an agency, got a partner.

Made ₹85k of inflow, ₹20k in revenue in the agency.
Co-founder scammed me (cuz I was still 17 and he was 21, so using his account. He was for marketing and updating clients, I was handling operations. Will talk about that someday else).

In second year,
random day I thought,

I’m earning money but still the spark is not there, so let’s explore again.

Started with web dev.
Initially it was hard but I thought,
I’m a graphic designer and good websites have good graphics, so that will be my unfair advantage 😏

Later on, turns out it was of no use, but base principles of design and sheer curiosity of building good frontend kept me hooked.

After that, the internship video editing one.

They needed someone for a website fix, so I on the same pay agreed for extra work.

And till next year, I only built landing pages and more pages and more pages.

Learned MERN, Next.js.

And after that I got a lot of micro problems, started learning backend cuz that will solve that problem.

Like storing links, automatic reply on WhatsApp if a certain keyword is there, extension to force grayscale on websites, and tons of things I wanted to build, I learned and built.

And I even forgot that I was doing it for a job.

And in the process,
job and money became the byproduct.

I'm earning 10x more of what i thought I'll earn in final year, that too enjoyingly.

Even now system design and backend seem to be more fascinating to me.
Even DSA looks fun.

So I might go in depth as well, and after a year or two,

This curiosity will pay off, and even if it didn’t, I don’t really care.
I enjoyed doing something for a year or two which I like.

So the takeaway is

> Do FAFO
> Head Down and work
> Don't think just do it
> Everyone have their own timeline Don't compare with others timeline
> Daily effort matters more that the weekly or monthly effort.
