THREAD: As #Omicron surges and our systems strain, I wanted to share my #COVID19 experience in NYC last month. It was actually a hopeful window into what a society where we look out for one another and a government that is set up to truly care for us could look like.
He won't tweet this himself, so go Gabe @gabezt! Even more impressive (in my opinion) was his raising a tiny human during a global pandemic when childcare fell through and hyper-focusing to get shit done. Like this paper, nbd. 🦸🏽♂️

As Taliban enter Kabul, the U.S. Government needs to save our Afghan women allies, who are high on Taliban kill lists.

@LizReidPGH We lived with my parents for a year, because we never got off waitlists in Boston. Now we're playing the waitlist game in Pittsburgh while working full-time jobs. Most tell us our best hope is 2022. When people (mainly men) wonder why American women aren't having children...
Back to normal? I put my twins on waitlists in 2017, they were born in 2018, and we didn't end up finding any available slots (partly bc we needed two at a time) until 2021. The lack of high-quality, affordable child care is an ongoing national crisis.

HUGELY UNDERCOUNTING DEATHS—India is either sloppy in miscounting #COVID19 deaths, or they are criminally covering up overwhelming deaths. All signs & reporting points either one or the other—“It’s a complete massacre of data”. Real deaths 2x-5x higher.🧵

America can help.
My piece in @washingtonpost on how the world’s oldest democracy (the U.S.) can help the world's largest democracy (India).
It's time to act.

"I want to encourage you to draw a circle around your most vulnerable populations and work with them to design the system that they need . . . be awed about what people are forced to carry instead of being judgemental that they carry it." @ckchamberlain_#HXD2021
There's a lot of totally correct talk about how @StaceyAbrams was pivotal to winning Georgia. Folks: Stacey & her team were pivotal to flipping Wisconsin too. And every other battleground. They worked with us to build massive, supercharged voter protection teams—starting *early.*
Received this fitting gift in the mail last night. Georgia and late Rep. John Lewis, we owe you everything: "I have said this before, and I will say it again, the vote is precious. It is almost sacred. It is the most powerful non-violent tool we have in a democracy."
ATTENTION Election Day voters: For the first time in a presidential election, you don’t have to vote in your home precinct tomorrow. You can vote at any location in Harris County, including @BBVAStadium. With @HoustonDynamo player Niko Hansen reminding everyone to vote tomorrow!
