@MrBoatman1845 Hawthorne CdB for me. FRMC had a bust made of himself whilst in Florence. In 1837 the American sculptor Hiram Powers moved to Florence. In 1847 he was @ Villa della Fornace 2538. In 1857, the Hawthornes asked Powers to take CdB, it being 'opposite his house' Coincidence?

7 months later, Andrew would drown, aged 18, when the troop transport Seahorse, with 5 companies of the 59th aboard, & returning to station, was wrecked in bad weather in Tramore Bay, County Waterford, Ireland. Of the 394 aboard, 363 were lost, inc. 33 women & 38 children.
