Canada is an Arctic nation — and we can never take our Northern sovereignty and security for granted. That’s why meeting with Premier Akeeagok in Iqaluit was a priority for my first week in office.
Together, we’re going to build the economy across the region — with more homes, more port capacity, more energy projects, more jobs, more opportunity.
We also talked about the growing threats to our Arctic sovereignty. Premier Akeeagok and I agree: it’s time to accelerate defence spending and expand the Canadian Armed Forces’ Arctic presence to keep our North strong and free.
Donald Trump is expected to attend the G7 summit in Alberta this June. But some people don't want him setting foot on Canadian soil. https://t.co/Y5WU14oYz8
I want to address all retired athletes and especially retired @NHL players who support democracy and disagree with criminal dictatorial practices, so that they are not afraid to speak out. And publicly stand up for Ukraine, which has been defending itself against the Russian imperialist enemy for more than 3 years. It is defending not only its freedom, but also my country and the whole of Europe. At the same time, Ukraine deploys and loses the lives of its best people (at least several hundred thousand have already been killed and maimed). Especially now, when one of the most important partners (the USA - its current presidential administration) is taking the side of the greatest criminal of our time, Putin, with its actions, every word of yours is very important and can have an impact on saving many lives. Once again, I ask everyone who disagrees with the Russian imperialist war and the terrible crimes that the Russian army is committing on the territory of Ukraine (including the genocide of Ukrainian children), do not be afraid to speak out and condemn the Russian war and Russian crimes. (Including you The Great One. It is very likely that some of your distant relatives have been killed or maimed by Russian bombs in the past 3 years). I can assure you that everyone who can do this will do the right thing and it is quite possible that you will save many human lives.

Remarkably powerful comments today from men's national team head coach Jesse Marsch on U.S. President Donald Trump's repeated rhetoric suggesting Canada become a U.S. state.
Marsch: "Canada is a strong, independent nation that’s deep-rooted in decency... a place that values high ethics and respect, unlike the polarized, disrespectful and, often now, hate-fuelled climate that’s in the U.S."
Effective Immediately:
All pipeline permits going east, west, or south received in Saskatchewan will be considered pre-approved.
We encourage all provinces and the federal government to do the same.

The RCMP is committed to using every available technology & asset to secure the border between Canada & the US. On Jan.14, an RCMP plane with thermal imaging helped officers in Manitoba arrest six illegal migrants who had just entered Canada.
Today, we remember Cst Dennis ONOFREY, (Reg No. 32104, served Nov 25, 1974 - Jan 23, 1978), who was shot & killed on this date in 1978 in Virden, while investigating a reported stolen motor vehicle. #RCMPNeverForget#rcmpmb
Jan.20 Manitoba RCMP PDS Marook assisted Neepawa, Dauphin & Wasagaming officers after a stolen vehicle was pulled over near Onaole. 2 males in vehicle, the one that fled was tracked and apprehended by Marook. Both charged & released for court.
