The situation is actually a bit more complicated - different blood cancers are more common at different ages. Acute lymphoblastic leukaemia is more common in young children and Hodgkin lymphoma has two peaks - in young adults and older patients.

We work very closely with our NHS colleagues to identify every single blood cancer patient in our study region as they are diagnosed. This is only possible because we have a centralised diagnostic lab (HMDS) - this doesn't happen elsewhere!
