If you have a loved one that’s in jail because they couldn’t afford the bail, they have a new way to push for their release! A new CA Supreme Court case called “Kowalczyk” says judges can’t detain ppl on unattainable bail! Push the attorney to advocate for their release!✊🏾💪🏾
"A group of civil rights orgs is ratcheting up the legal pressure on San Jose over longstanding complaints that too often mental health-related emergency calls receive a police response — rather than assistance from mental health professionals." @svdebug

Sometimes at our weekly ACJP participatory defense mtgs at De-Bug, the victories are especially moving. This is a movement that will free our people. Slow-cooking, when no one’s looking, a consistent drumbeat marching forward when the world expects resignation - type movement.
De-Bug response to Mahan's disastrous budget San Jose message. In the face of a deficit, the Mayor wants take money out of permanent housing & needed social services & pour it into police, landlords, & developers. That's not our San Jose he's protecting.

Santa Clara County electeds have said they will protect the community from ICE. Yet despite these declarations they have allowed a continuing ICE operation at the jail that has led to 46 ppl being taken. We can’t allow that, and call on the county to put actions to their words.✊🏾
When we said #NoICEintheBay we meant it- and that includes stopping ICE from kidnapping people from the jail lobby, separating families, and sending our loved ones to detention death centers. #ProtectYourPeople
