@IrxnFcb@M3L0C@TouchlineTFC@MLS@LeaguesCup You're right that the game was given to TFC on a silver platter - not by MLS, but by Miami. They fouled twice in the box and committed two red card infractions although the ref decided to only call 1. And despite that gift from Miami, TFC couldn't capitalize. Unsurprising really.
@IrxnFcb@M3L0C@TouchlineTFC@MLS@LeaguesCup And I can't say what other people would be talking about, because there are always irrational fans, but I know I would only be talking about your hypothetical if any of the calls were rather questionable - like the missed red that actually happened.
@IrxnFcb@M3L0C@TouchlineTFC@MLS@LeaguesCup If you mean "favored" by the ref, that's only the case if any of those calls were wrong. Which one was wrong? I think this shows you one the other way...
@ZachWChouinard @haylolz @MLS "if you're trying to get a red" lol... It's a red card dude. Has been in many other games.. when a Miami player isn't the culprit.
Nobody's "trying", referee is just not calling it by the books because it's Miami. Both that AND TFC not deserving to win can be true.
@tbflowers@A2Booch@JoserNunez91 You say "it's been a thing", and I know some refs have called it, but they're simply deeming that excessive force / endangering the opponent's safety - obviously a subjective call. There's absolutely nothing in the laws about striking a player with a ball specifically.
@tbflowers@A2Booch@JoserNunez91 So should it be a card if they kick it off a player for a goal kick? I assume it's a card if you punch someone in the leg..
@tbflowers@A2Booch@JoserNunez91 Nah, dangerous precedent to set. If a player is perceived to intentionally kick the ball off an opponent to win a goal kick (or corner), is it akin to them punching the opponent in the leg? They did it on purpose...
@24thminute Maybe they were fired up by what he did. Ftr, I'm semi joking, and I do NOT condone cross checking anyone in the face. But I'm also not so arrogant as to conclusively say there's no way it at all motivated his teammates, as stupid & immature as hockey's "unwritten code" may be.
@JeffreyPNesker@JohnMolinaro Brilliant player does not necessarily = brilliant mentor/coach. Hopefully it does/will in this case, but maybe TFC shouldn't move heaven and earth based on an assumption?
@JeffreyPNesker@JohnMolinaro I think his vision on the pitch is better than anyone else who was worn the kit. BUT he's been with the club a full season, and I haven't necessarily noticed a significant improvement in the guys around him (with MAYBE coello as an exception)
@JeffreyPNesker@JohnMolinaro Counter counter counter (?) argument: VV is a brilliant player, from a terrific academy... But that doesn't necessarily mean he'll make a great coach or effectively be able to pass along what he has learned and his skillset / knowledge of the game.
@24thminute@JeffreyPNesker @teengenerate_08 We could view every transaction as a step in a long process - but that's not what it was. At the time it was him, Bradley, Ol Gil. Bringing Defoe in was a bad move. Getting rid of Defoe turned out to be a great move. But those were separate transactions/intentions.
@24thminute@JeffreyPNesker @teengenerate_08 I do think this is a little too forgiving - defoe was a bit of a disaster. Just because a subsequent move involved him doesn't negate that. They didn't bring him in so that they could eventually get Jozy - that just happened to transpire afterward.
@RobDitta@annwmac@CBCNews But the point isn't about passing along these savings, it's about incentivizing developers to build more (esp smaller ones). And then yes, economic theory would suggest more supply eventually = lower prices.
@LRJA_14 @wmarpez Seba wasn't a huge goalscorer either. Aside from one good season at parma.. 14 goals in 93 apps for juve. Bernardeschi had 14 in 72 when he was at fiorentina (but yes, less on Juventus).
@24thminute Fair. I think I would compare it to CMNT qualifying in '22. But yeah, not Crosby's gold medal winner. Just for context in terms of what it means to Canadian golf fans, though (or in this case the biggest Canadian golf writer): https://t.co/g7Umupw4cQ
Teary. I admit it. The week began with golf biz craziness & ends with Taylor winning, and the game winning. I was there when Knudson in β68 had a chance, in β87 when Zokol had a chance, in β04 when Weir lost to Singh in a playoff, in β15 when Hearn was right there, and now this,
@24thminute bigger soccer fan than golf). I think what you're missing is that it's not a huge GOLF moment overall, but it IS a huge Canadian golf and yes, arguably, Canadian sport moment. Anyway, it's all subjective and partly semantics
