I genuinely don't understand how Pokémon GO players can just lose access to their accounts like this.

I get it when it happens because of negligence, account sharing, or even someone they trusted fucking them over. But I personally know of at least three cases where people seemingly lost access to their accounts completely out of nowhere, with no obvious mistake or explanation.

For accounts people have spent years building, that’s honestly insane.
