I have deliberately taken my time before commenting on Thomas Tafirenyika Muchadura Mukanya Mapfumo's @OfficialMukanya decision to accept the performance offer made by Wicknell Chivhayo.
Emotions have been running high, but sometimes it is better to let the dust settle before offering an opinion.
Many people have every right to feel disappointed. Mukanya has spent decades speaking truth to power, giving a voice to the ordinary Zimbabwean and refusing offers that he believed compromised his principles. That legacy cannot simply be erased.
But I also think we should look at this from another angle.
Thomas Mapfumo is not accepting a handout. He is not receiving charity. He is being paid for doing what he has done for more than half a century , performing his music.
There is a difference.
For decades, Mukanya gave Zimbabwe a soundtrack that defined generations. His music inspired, challenged, comforted and united millions. If someone now believes that contribution is worth paying US$1 million for, why should he apologise for earning it?
Some will say he has changed.
I would ask... At what point do we allow a man to stop fighting and simply enjoy the fruits of his life's work?
He has already made his position known over many decades. History has already recorded where he stood. His record speaks for itself. There is little left for him to prove.
Not long ago, after his rural home was destroyed by fire, a fundraising appeal reportedly struggled to raise even a fraction of its modest target.
That should give us all pause.
It is easy to tell a legend to remain uncompromising. It is much harder to support that legend when he needs us.
If this performance fee allows Mukanya to enjoy his later years in comfort, surrounded by family, with the dignity he has earned through his own talent, then I genuinely wish him well.
Perhaps this chapter may also open the door to something many Zimbabweans, regardless of political persuasion, have quietly wished to see for years , Thomas Mapfumo spending more time back in the country that gave birth to both the man and the music. There is something deeply special about a legend coming home. Every great story deserves a peaceful final chapter, and there is no place like home.
Whether you agree with his decision or not, one thing remains unchanged...
Thomas Mapfumo's contribution to Zimbabwean music, our liberation story and our national identity was secured long before this performance offer arrived.
A paid performance cannot erase a lifetime of conviction.
I wish Dr. Thomas Mapfumo safe travels, successful performances and, above all, peace and happiness in the years ahead.
Legends deserve their flowers while they are still here.💐
We thank @HeraldZimbabwe for their report. However, the article conveys a misleading interpretation of the #EU 🇪🇺Ambassador’s remarks.
The EU Ambassador had underscored that Constitutional amendments are a sovereign prerogative and raise no concerns when undertaken in full accordance with both the letter and the spirit of the Constitution reflecting the will of the people.
The remarks were intended to reaffirm principles of Constitutional fidelity and democratic legitimacy.

Video showing Electoral Commission officials ticking all ballot papers in favor of Museveni at a polling station in western Uganda. This is what Museveni and his criminal system call an election! We campaigned. We voted. We tried to protect our vote but the criminals arrested or abducted many of our agents and officials. The only recourse is for the PEOPLE OF UGANDA to reclaim their voice. That is why we called this a PROTEST VOTE.
Please keep those videos coming in - and all other evidence of the theft that took place on the 15th.

I want to ask Zimbabwean men a question.
Are we going to just watch ZANUPF violate the constitution without any program of resistance?
There is no organised political opposition in Zimbabwe.
So are we simply going to write big English words on Twitter?

This is how incompetent, pathetic, and unprofessional the Zimbabwean police have become under Zimbabwean tyrant Emmerson Mnangagwa.
A police officer went to court to lie, claiming he had overwhelming evidence that Namatai Kwekweza was demonstrating on June 27 in Zimbabwe.
Yet flight records show she was in South Africa and only returned to Zimbabwe on June 28.
Because the magistrate is also unprofessional and a political project of the regime, they let it go and she remains in jail without bail.
They hid Namatai’s passport so it couldn’t be used after taking it from her when they abducted her from the plane at Robert Mugabe International Airport.
This situation makes any reasonable person angry.
Mnangagwa is nothing more than a corrupt thug who runs a criminal network that has looted Zimbabwe dry!
It is sickening and tragic that a country which used to be a leader in many areas has been reduced to this by this thug and his family and corrupt friends.
The apparent manipulation of evidence, disregard for due process, and lack of professionalism displayed by the Zimbabwean police and judiciary in Namatai Kwekweza's case are what Zimbabweans are subjected to daily.
These actions not only violate Namatai’s rights as an individual but also undermine the integrity of the country’s justice system, which died a long time ago under the illegally appointed Chief Justice Luke Malaba, who is a total disgrace to the legal fraternity.
The fact that the police officer lied in court and the magistrate failed to address the contradictory evidence highlights the extent to which the judiciary has been totally compromised and politicised under Mnangagwa's illegitimate rule.
The confiscation of Namatai's passport and the attempt to conceal it further demonstrate the lengths to which the regime will go to silence dissent and maintain control.
So sad!!!

Red Carpet of Blood!
crookED Emmerson is saying he has finished preparing for the SADC Summit.
What his guests need to know is that these preparations were done using abductions, beatings, torture, arbitrary arrests, abuse of the judiciary and imprisonment!
As crookED Emmerson rolls out the red carpet, his guests will be passing through an airport where activists were dragged out of a plane and tortured for eight hours in that airport!
The fact that these activists were forcibly removed from a plane and subjected to hours of torture speaks to the repressive tactics being employed by the Zimbabwean government to silence dissent and suppress opposition.
It is crucial that SADC leaders take a strong stance against these abuses and hold the Zimbabwean government accountable for its actions. Ignoring these human rights violations or turning a blind eye to them would be a betrayal of the organization's stated values and principles.
crookED Emmerson even has a mother and her one-year-old child in jail for merely meeting to commemorate the Day of the African Child at the home of Senator Jameson Timba who is also in jail with 84 others who met at his home.
All these abductions, beatings, torture, arbitrary arrests, and imprisonments are being done in the name of SADC by crookED Emmerson.
While the fight for freedom continues in Zimbabwe, it is now important to establish a Government in Exile that will challenge Mnangagwa’s illegitimate and corrupt regime internationally.
Mnangagwa’s repressive crackdown on pro-democracy activists is intended to protect his loot and the criminal network that benefits from access to public funds.
The regime and its supporters must now be isolated internationally, targeting known bank accounts and investigating additional ones that remain undiscovered, and more importantly targeting private properties bought with looted funds.
With the international community taking notice and condemning ZANUPF’s corrupt rule and repression, there will be increased support for the establishment of a Government in Exile to represent the interests of the Zimbabwean people on the global stage.
Elections will never work, appeasement will never work, the struggle must now stepped up!
Mnangagwa and his regime must go for Zimbabwe to prosper.
A list should be produced with all the local companies that are benefiting from Mnangagwa’s corrupt rule for citizens to boycott them.
All the international companies that do business with Mnangagwa must be boycotted and exposed in their countries of origin!
The terrain for this struggle must now change, we will remember those who help us when we attain our freedom!

This is the result of Zimbabwean secret service torture on teacher and trade unionist, Robert Chere, yesterday.
He was pulled off a plane by the secret service officers yesterday afternoon along with three other activists who were also tortured.
This is what the criminal cabal of Emmerson Mnangagwa does to citizens in civil society, the opposition, and the media.
Zimbabweans require help!
It is important for the international community and human rights organisations to closely monitor the situation in Zimbabwe and speak out against such violations.
The people of Zimbabwe deserve a safe and secure environment where they can express their opinions and engage in peaceful activism without fear of retribution.
Dear ZRP
If Namatai is not in your custody, then she is being held against her will by criminals. Please find her. She is a young woman and is vulnerable.
If she is in your custody, just advise and calm us down. It is imperative that you do so. This is not Rhodesia.

Zimbabwean government secret service officers dragged three pro-democracy activists from a plane this afternoon at Robert Mugabe International Airport.
The pictures below were taken by a passenger who was on the plane as the activists were being led away from the plane.
The three pro-democracy campaigners are Robson Chere, the Secretary General of a local teachers' trade union; Samuel Gwenzi, a local government councillor for Harare’s Ward 5; and Vusumuzi Moyo and Namatai Kwekweza.
They join 78 other pro-democracy activists who were arrested and jailed on June 16. Seventy-four of them are still in jail as anyone perceived to have the potential to mobilise citizens during the SADC summit which kicks off on the 17th of August is being arrested.
The four were flying from Harare to Victoria Falls where they were supposed to attend a civil society conference with participants from all over Africa.
Their phones have been taken away!
Zimbabwe is being run by a criminal cabal that abuses public office by arresting anyone who fights against its corrupt rule!
Please RETWEET for their own safety!
Please RETWEET as this might help save this woman’s life!
Dear Africans,
This is Tambudzai Makororo, one of the 74 Zimbabwean political prisoners who were severely beaten by the Zimbabwean police, arrested, jailed without trial, and denied bail.
They were arrested on June 16 after meeting at the home of opposition leader and former GNU cabinet minister, Jameson Timba, where they were commemorating the Day of the African Child.
While in prison, Tambudzai lost her baby, and the Zimbabwean regime refused to let her bury her child.
She underwent surgery on July 8 to treat a fracture caused by police brutality. Unfortunately, due to the terrible prison conditions and lack of wound care, she developed sepsis and her wounds began oozing pus.
Doctors are shocked why someone in such a state can be denied bail.
She is now in a critical condition, but Mnangagwa’s regime doesn’t care.
It is deeply tragic that she and the other political prisoners have been subjected to such violence and inhumane treatment at the hands of the Zimbabwean police and authorities.
The fact that Tambudzai lost her baby while in prison and was denied the opportunity to bury her child is beyond cruel.
The international community must take notice of the massive human rights violations taking place in Zimbabwe and apply pressure on the Mnangagwa regime to stop these brutal and inhumane acts.
There is virtually no political opposition in Zimbabwe, so only the world can help this particular lady.
Please RETWEET as this might help save this woman’s life!
She shouldn’t be in jail, it is beyond cruel, but this is how these FAKE Pan Africanists treat their own people!
The CCC/Chamisa side has set up a Go-Fund to raise money for the families of the 74 jailed CCC activists.
RETWEET the link so that many who want to assist can help.
I also hope that Chamisa and his colleagues will amplify this call on their X handles.

Dear Africans,
I want you to know that the 74 Zimbabweans who were jailed without trial and denied bail for commemorating Africa Youth Day are sleeping exactly as you see in this picture and in this exact cell!
Some are sick, and one woman is living with a one-year-old child in a dilapidated prison like this!
I have personally lived in this place three times after exposing state corruption and being jailed without trial and denied bail.
Please, Africans, remember these people and RETWEET so the world can understand their plight!
The fact that 74 Zimbabweans, including an opposition leader who is a former cabinet minister and a mother with a one-year-old child, are being jailed without trial and denied bail for exercising their right to meet is a gross violation of human rights.
It is extremely essential for people around the world especially Africans to be aware of these gross injustices.
The international community must stand in solidarity with these detained Zimbabweans and demand their immediate release.
The only thing worse than what you are seeing is the silence by those who should know better!

On the left is Feresi Chakanyuka, and on the right is Tafadzwa Mhiti, the two shameless magistrates who convicted Job Sikhala for crimes he didn’t commit.
Feresi Chakanyuka is so shameless that she used a law that doesn't exist to convict and jail Sikhala. She even disregarded a High Court ruling that clearly stated such a law doesn't exist!
Make them famous by RETWEETING them; it is time the whole world knows these accessories to repression and abuse of power!
There must be an online website that documents all these corrupt and captured magistrates, the opposition must learn to fight back using today’s tools like the internet and AI to expose these unprofessional and captured ZANUPF magistrates!
It is unbelievable that Feresi Chakanyuka could blatantly disregard the ruling of a higher court ruling and apply a non-existent law to convict someone!
Tafadzwa Mhofu, too, has proven that she is no better than Chakanyuka with her equally shameful role in this sham trial.
These names need to be known and remembered for posterity!!!
I want Africa to know that there is a one-year-old child in a Zimbabwean prison.
This child has been in prison for over a month since June 16!
Her mother was arrested on June 16 while she was part of a group of opposition supporters commemorating June 16 Youth Day.
It is winter in Zimbabwe, and prisoners sleep on the floor.
It is inhumane to subject a child to such cruelty simply because her mother is opposed to your political views!
To think that a one-year-old child is being subjected to such inhumane conditions due to her mother's political beliefs is an utter injustice.
No child should ever be punished for the perceived sins of their parents, and yet that's exactly what is happening here in Zimbabwe.
The fact that this is taking place during winter only compounds the suffering of both mother and child and the 74 other activists arrested with her.
How can we call ourselves human when we allow such atrocities to happen in the name of politics?

The engine of looting public funds in Zimbabwe under the Mnangagwa regime is the Ministry of Finance.
The ministry is purported to have given US$11.7 million to other departments, yet the Auditor General found that only US$8.4 million was accounted for.
US$3.3 million was LOOTED!
The Permanent Secretary, George Guvamatanga, is accused of asking for bribes to facilitate the release of funds to pay invoices.
The Minister of Finance, Mthuli Ncube, is a failed banker who is also a South African citizen and is building a massive mansion in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The fact that the Ministry of Finance, which is supposed to be responsible for managing public funds, is actually engaging in bribery and embezzlement is astounding.
George Guvamatanga's alleged role in demanding bribes to release public funds is not only reprehensible and indicative of systemic rot within the ministry, but it is also disgusting, especially as it is happening when Zimbabweans are dying in dilapidated hospitals.
Mthuli Ncube's involvement in these scandals, while simultaneously serving as the Minister of Finance and building a mansion in South Africa, is a blatant abuse of power. These men are corrupt, and one day they will pay a huge price for this plunder.
US$3.3 million could have built 89 maternity theatres, the biggest hospital in Zimbabwe only has ONE maternity theatre build by the colonial government in 1977.

Zimbabwe’s Ministry of Information and Publicity paid for 7 Toyota Double Cab vehicles through Solution Motors; NOTHING was delivered.
This ministry is run by Mnangagwa’s regime motor mouth propagandist Nick Mangwana, who is at the forefront of defending the looting and plunder by his regime and his party, ZANUPF!
Seven years ago, the Ministry of Agriculture paid US$207,540 for 4 vehicles through Solution Motors; NOTHING was delivered.
Solution Motors, owned by Innocent Sibanda, was paid $518,000 by the ZANUPF regime to deliver 10 cars, but only 5 were delivered, worth only about $100,000.
The same company was paid US$1 million to supply heavy-duty machinery in December 2017; NOTHING was delivered!
This company has a long-standing relationship with the ZANU-PF regime and is being rewarded with lucrative contracts, despite its inability to actually provide the goods it has been paid for.
While this looting and plunder of public funds was happening, ZANUPF made people like President Ramaphosa of South Africa look like clowns parroting the sanctions propaganda while the public purse is being pillaged!
