Just got an op-ed published, time for a 🧵!
Our @HlthResearchBC and @BCSUPPORTUnit funded team led by @FHavaei@UBCNursing spent much of the pandemic figuring out how crisis policies affected those that lived, worked, and visited @louis_brier long-term care home in BC.

Through this collaboration we could tell how much these rapidly created policies impacted the living and working conditions in the care home. The mental health of not only staff and residents, but also their family members were heavily impacted by the pandemic policies.

So much to learn from Dr. Pat Armstrong, distinguished professor @YorkUniversity. Your engaging interview along with your previous work gave our @GR_Program project on #aging the expert Canadian lens that we needed.
Thank you for this valuable work!

Thank you to @ltamblynwatts@CanAgeSeniors for sharing your breadth and depth of knowledge about aging during our interview for our @GR_Program project. Your passion for advocacy was palpable and brought us great insight!

Purdy and colleagues (2010) on the context of 🇨🇦 healthcare in the mid 2000's:
... aging population, increasingly complex patients, nursing shortages, rampant nursing job dissatisfaction, poor working conditions, heavy workloads, limited participation in decision making...

This all sounds familiar in the conversations we are still having today. They did warn us it would get worse, I wonder why we didn't listen? Now these issues are affecting our healthcare system more than ever.

Thank you @GR_Program for allowing me to be a fellow on this journey of a project in collaboration with @picardhealth & @globeandmail.
So great to see their stories out there! https://t.co/i8Y8UuR6Au
One-fifth of the projected global population will be 60+ by 2050; are we prepared? The @GlobalRepCentre follows 4 seniors in Sweden, Finland, South Korea & Canada as they contend with aging. By the fellows at @GR_Program. In partnership with @globeandmail. https://t.co/sLAXnNZ3Xy
Back from maternity leave, ready to dig in again.
Currently writing my annotated bib for my comprehensive exam.
My plan is to post one interesting thing I read about every day for one month; lots to learn!
