The Housing Secretary Steve Reed is promising more measures to help businesses, as he puts it, “build, baby build”. He is bringing forward plans to speed up the approval of new water reservoirs and onshore wind farms as a part of a shake up of planning laws.

The new powers would allow ministers to prevent applications being rejected by local councils or stalled in judicial reviews. Critics say the move will have a devastating impact on local communities and that everyone will become vulnerable to huge developments on their doorsteps.

Iran's Foreign Minister says there are no plans for a meeting with U.S. officials. The comments, made on Iranian State TV, came just hours after the White House was also forced to clarify that there is nothing in the diary, despite President Donald Trump saying otherwise.

It's the latest twist in a war of words following American strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. It's claimed Israel agreed to end the war with Iran within two weeks of that action.
