Picked up an intense 4-3 victory today. We will battle Le Sueur in a state qualifier game tomorrow at 6:00pm. Graham Burke tossed 8 strong innings. Tanner Luebke picked up the save and hit a bomb.

Most important skill set for infielders? Throwing! … Period. All else (hands/feet/range, etc) become irrelevant if you are not an elite thrower. This includes arm strength, BUT EVEN MORE IMPORTANT IS ACCURACY. Problem is… less than 5% of all HS players are elite throwers. Likely 2%.

This summer, I encourage infielders to put a serious emphasis on this part of their game. And make every throw of every drill with the importance of the last play of the state championship, college World Series, or the MLB World Series. Aim small… miss small mentality! Making throws under pressure.

FOR THIS TO HAPPEN YOU HAVE TO THROW WITH FOCUS AND INTENT ON A CONSISTENT BASIS. challenge your arm to make the routine (repetable) throws as well as athletic throws … including all arm angles. Create a throwing progression and put it into action. If you are seeking a quality throwing routine, let me know and I’ll share where to find one.
