Welcome to the Sinako We Can family - in case you are new to this space and wondering who we are, we are a registered NPC with an objective to empower passionate aspiring future legal practitioners and social justice advocates.
SWCM NPC held its annual Legacy Walk on the 50th commemoration of Youth Day, honouring the legacy of the youth of 1976 by investing in the youth of today. Law students walked alongside candidate attorneys, associates, and advocates, creating a space where questions were welcomed, wisdom was shared, and meaningful connections were formed. Titles faded into the background as conversations bridged generations and experiences, reminding us that the legal profession is strengthened when we choose collaboration over competition.
To all our guests who joined us on this journey, thank you for showing up with open hearts, generous spirits and willingness to pour into the next generation. Your presence transformed a walk into a movement of encouragement, guidance, and hope.
To everyone who contributed through donations, sponsorships and acts of generosity, thank you for believing in the vision of SWCMNPC. Your support continues to create access, sustain opportunities and ensure that this movement reaches those who need it most. Because of you, legacy is not just remembered; it is actively built.
As an African proverb reminds us, “The tree under whose shade we sit today was planted by those who came before us.” May we honour that gift by planting seeds for those yet to come.

Mentees from the SWCM NPC Mentorship Programme recently attended the Advocates for Transformation (AFT) Annual General Meeting, where they were exposed to thought-provoking discussions on the future of South Africa’s legal profession. The programme featured powerful contributions from Deputy Chief Justice Mlambo, Honourable Acting Judge President Ledwaba, Minister Dr. Naledi Pandor, as well as representatives from key organisations such as SAWLA, the BLA and others.
For our mentees, this was more than an event. Experiences like this broaden their perspective and empower them to pursue their legal aspirations with purpose, clarity and renewed motivation.
Reflecting on her experience, Thandeka Jikumlambo said: “What stood out most was the reality of how difficult it still is for many young people to enter the legal profession. The expectation to complete a full year of unpaid pupillage, followed by months of waiting for admission, places a heavy burden on those without financial support. It became clear to me that unless this barrier is addressed, transformation will remain a promise instead of a lived experience.”
The mentees left the AGM with renewed motivation to contribute to a legal profession that truly reflects the diversity of South Africa, one where access, opportunity and fairness are central to the culture and practice of law.
We extend our deepest thanks to Adv Mathe, our keynote speaker and a shining example of the SWCM legacy. She carried the torch forward, reaffirming the values that define our movement and left our graduates energised with powerful, uplifting words.

Yesterday, 27 September 2025, we marked a truly special milestone - 9 years of the Sinako We Can Movement NPC.
Together with our alumni and friends of the movement, we reflected on a journey of resilience, growth and impact. We were deeply honoured to be inspired by a powerful keynote from Mahlape Sello SC, whose words reminded us of why this work matters.
The Sinako We Can Movement was born at the Constitutional Court on 27 September 2016, with a vision to open doors for aspiring legal practitioners - particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds — by bringing them into close and personal contact with the law and its custodians.
Through guided tours of the Constitutional Court, young people were introduced not just to the Court, but to the living stories of judges, legal practitioners and professionals who rose above insurmountable odds.
In those moments, our message was clear: no matter where you come from, your dreams are valid, your voice matters, and you too can rise.
Nine years later, the organisation has grown in all aspects. We have since introduced a sustainable mentorship programme and the most
impactful law colloquium. Thousands of young people have walked through these doors, benefitting from the work of our organisation - and the journey continues. Our mission has never been just about access, but about transformation. Lives have been changed, horizons have been expanded, and hope has been restored.
We remain deeply grateful to every single person who has supported, contributed and believed in this vision over the years. This milestone belongs to all of us.
