For foreigners and expats in Lebanon—& to much extent the Lebanese themselves, who are troubled understanding the coexisting Time Zones in #Lebanon, I compiled an approximative #Time Zone map for the country based on the sectarian dispositions of #Christian & #Muslim communities.
Please note that these time zones are based on modeling religion-divide and much of it is estimations. The actual time zone per region may differ as there is no information provided by the State.
Commentary: The Lebanese Government took a couple of days ago an ill-advised descison to unsync Lebanon from the international time system, citing #Ramadan. This caused a local uproar and an international confusion (servers, companies, banking systems, flights, cloud...). Notably, Christian communities/institutions (with a few minor exceptions of muslim communities) rejected the descison and announced unilaterally that they will not adapt the government's timing, effectively making two time zones coexisting in the country.
This reflects a deeply-divided society and a broken governance.

If Twitter collapses, news gathering will collapse to an extent, because this site is where people go to elude paywalls, debunk propaganda, find primary sources. It's an archive. A very messy, flawed archive. But an incredibly valuable one, esp when the old world is dead.
David DePape’s radicalization unfolded over eight years and several different ideologies, moving from Green Party support and nudist activism, to a hateful mix of racist, anti-Jewish and misogynistic rhetoric, according to terrorism analysts. https://t.co/iJXEfc0imb
Watching the Public Defender who’s been assigned to represent the man who attacked Paul Pelosi again drives home for me the fact that we owe public defenders a debt of gratitude. Not only do they represent those who can not afford to hire an attorney, but they have to do
