Portfolio update : Green Blood
He always appears unannounced. Like an irritating grain of pollen, his very breath scorches our gaze and grips our senses the moment he speaks. Imagining himself flower or foliage, he never grants his name, believing himself to be of the plant world.
He swears that green blood flows through his veins, forgetting that his heavy purple garb still drips with the juices of his victims.
"The Bathers", 1912, oil on canvas, 152.5 x 115.5 cm, by Emanuel Phillips Fox (Australian, 1865–1915). National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne, Australia.
