I resent the simplistic culture of individual scapegoating in football, because there can be 99 reasons for poor performance besides management.

I have sympathy for Matt Hamshaw, because it isn’t easy to be Rotherham United manager at this stage of the club’s trajectory.

But there’s two big things that concerned me tonight: the lack of ideas, and the lack of urgency.

Other than an encouraging opening 10 minutes, they had no other answers when passing it back and then knocking it long to Nombe wasn’t working.

But most worryingly, no matter how late in the game it got with the team trailing, there was no intensity.

No determination, fight or spirit, that should always be the hallmark of a Rotherham United side.

If that’s what fans are experiencing semi-regularly then, with immense respect to Hamshaw and the values he clearly holds, I think you have to ask the big questions.
