Donald Trump has been arraigned in federal court on another criminal indictment – his THIRD and by far most serious. This one pertains directly to his efforts to overthrow the 2020 election with a fake elector scheme.

For Trump’s plot to succeed, he needed the support of multiple co-conspirators and shady politicians willing to look the other way.

And Cathy McMorris Rodgers was all too happy to play along.

Cathy initially pledged to vote against certifying the election, even repeating the same lies Donald Trump was spreading all over cable news:

Cathy only decided to support the lawful election outcome AFTER a violent mob of Trump supporters stormed the Capitol building the next day – but that doesn’t mean she stopped lying for Donald Trump.

Since the insurrection, Cathy has continued to spread disinformation to sow doubt about the integrity of American elections.

Even now she’s accused the Department of Justice of being “weaponized” for “political” purposes.

Maybe Cathy doesn’t believe the ex-president should be held liable for criminal conduct – but I do.

Cathy’s endless excuses for Trump’s election crimes are particularly alarming in the wake of this recent study by the University of Chicago, which found that as many as 12 million Americans believe violence would be justified to restore Donald Trump to power.

That’s no shock to me. From day one, Cathy has been Donald Trump’s biggest cheerleader in Congress from Washington state. She served as Trump’s 2020 campaign co-chair, and she was the ONLY member of the Washington caucus to vote against impeaching Donald Trump – twice.

Last year Cathy sent a loud and clear message to the right-wing extremists who stormed the Capitol on January 6th and all who share their beliefs – falsely claiming their leader was under attack for his political beliefs.

Now the chickens have come home to roost, and 12 million Americans are ready to use political violence to get their way.

Here’s the good news: The vast majority of Americans, including the vast majority of voters in WA-05, DO NOT support MAGA Republicans’ repeated calls for violence.

But I am deeply concerned for our country when a career politician like Cathy McMorris Rodgers can pass herself off as a so-called moderate Republican while actively fanning the flames of this dangerous, anti-democratic rhetoric.

We have got to send her packing next year because I don’t want to think what will happen if Republicans still hold the House majority if or when Donald Trump disputes his election loss again.
