No abduction or enforced disappearance should ever have a place in a constitutional democracy.

Where people are unlawfully abducted, detained or made to disappear, the truth must be established—including who ordered it, who authorised it, who carried it out, and who knew about it.

Kenya is a country governed by a Constitution and the rule of law. No President, Cabinet Secretary, police commander, public officer or security agency is above that law.

As one of those aspiring to lead this country, let it go on record: those who violate the Constitution and the rights of Kenyans will be held accountable through lawful, independent and transparent processes. Rank, office and political influence will offer no immunity.

Accountability will not mean revenge or political persecution. It will mean justice, due process and equal application of the law.

We must build a Kenya where no citizen lives in fear of the State, and where those entrusted with power understand that power comes with responsibility.

This is a promise I make solemnly—and one I intend to keep.
