Quick update on what's moving:

Briefed two Senate offices last week ahead of the FY27 NDAA personnel hearing — quality of life for junior enlisted service members, barracks conditions, DFAC oversight, and the gap between what ICE reports and what service members actually experience.

Multiple FOIAs are out on ICE. The contract record is one piece. The Performance Work Statement is another. We'll publish what comes back.

The Barracks Task Force hasn't been actively meeting since November, but the relationships built through it haven't gone anywhere. We're using them to raise awareness on reviews.

On the platform side, two things shipped:
* ICE submission is now built into the Hots&Cots review flow. Service members were already submitting to both. Now it's one step.
* Reviews are open on the website. No app download required!

A little late to the party on this one, but I was at JRTC when and where this incident happened.

Long story short, even for SOF UAS pilots, there are proper procedures, and they're followed for a reason. There's some out there that believe working explosives into drones is "innovation," when in reality we've been doing it for decades. A lot of commanders across the military assuming unnecessary risk due to the widespread lack of UAS knowledge in general, and not knowing this has all been codified already.

Related, but the Safety Specialist who wrote the release is also a SOF legend in his own right as well.

I’m hopeful we’ll be back one day, but today is the start of MANY goodbyes to the place that has been home for 4 years.

Fun fact: we have a lower crime rate that Durham per capita by 3%. So maybe Fayetteville isn’t so bad 😏

Today is my last day with the City as the PIO of social media. It’s a bittersweet feeling, but as we move to our next adventure, I’ll always look back on this job with great pride.
