Wasn't that long ago the mayor's office was looking to use student migration as a lever to the region's internationalisation strategy. But to be told by the sector that it was becoming significantly harder to attract students to the UK because of said rules.
But here we are 🤷♂️
Current Mayor of a city region that benefits massively from the economic impact of migration, worrying to see that @AndyBurnhamGM might be fully behind the home secretary's policies. Do those include the shabby way in which the HO has clamped down on student migration?
Ffs working class credentials always reduced to some caricature story about who your parents were!
This man has no interest and no history of supporting working class people
He tried to close local services including music provision in a working class borough (Redbridge), is increasing privatisation of our NHS, and *supported* student fees when he was NUS President
One thing I’m really loving about the Green Party of late is the boldness
Corbyns Labour was too accepting of negative framing but the Greens just have none of it and actually go out their way to wind up racists and the gammonista
Its a far better approach
There is only one way we will defeat Reform: together.
That’s why I’m backing the Greens in the Gorton and Denton by-election.
We are a mass movement of all ages, backgrounds and faiths — united in a belief that things can, and will, change.
Is Vanessa Feltz filing her nails or scribbling on a piece of paper on @LBC or something? Really obvious on the mic mix and it's a)distracting and b)making her sound disingenuous AF especially listening to the last two callers.
Watching Gladiator 2. It’s pretty piss poor. But intriguingly every time somebody pours a glass of wine the words “alcohol consumption is injurious” come up on the bottom right of the screen. Is this what it’s come to? Are we really that mollycoddled? A film about violence, murder and death warns about a glass of wine? No wonder dictators think our democratic culture is screwed. It’s pathetic. Why is there no warning that getting your head severed is even more injurious to your health than a glass of wine?

I think what I'm least looking forward to from a UK perspective is liberal talking heads congratulating themselves that "at least we're not heading that way over here" when any clear-eyed analysis of the last election result will demonstrate that's *exactly* the path we are on.
