"Hey man, my favorite soda suddenly tastes different."
"Yeah, we've upgraded it to the new better version!"
"But.. I liked the old taste. Can you change them back?"
"Nope, but heres the ingredients for the old version, now you can mix hundreds of bottles by yourself."
wtf man
@DnDBeyond You are going to lose so many subscribers to Roll20 because they did the easy and consumer friendly thing of giving the option to pick the 2014 or 2024 versions. It’s really not that hard to just keep the old spells and stuff and just put a legacy tag on them.
@DnDBeyond 90% of what I use DnD Beyond for is the character sheet. If you force my sheets made for 5e to run on rules for a different version that makes you useless to me. I’ve had a Master Tier subscription for years, but if I can’t play 5e character sheets I’m cancelling my membership.
@DnDBeyond How about an opt-in feature for the product we didn't choose to purchase?
This is supposed to be a tool of convenience and digging your heels in is guaranteeing fewer players
You can only bank on D&D being the only popular system if you don't kill your player base first
@RWalk97@DnDBeyond This, we LITERALLY paid to be able to use it in our character sheets. If I wanted the compendium, I’d have only bought the compendium. I’m in the middle of 2 campaigns. I’m not ready to transfer to 2024 rules yet and forcing my hand is driving me to figure out roll20 sheets.
@DnDBeyond We didn't buy the 2014 content for the compendium, we bought it for the digital assets on our character sheets. With you removing 2014 spells and magic items, this leaves us without the assets we paid for! Add a legacy option for spells and magic items!
@DnDBeyond Yeah okay the problem we all have is if we can access it in character creation and keep the 5e material in existing character sheets. Honestly this the last straw for me with dndbeyond I’m gonna start only using Roll20
@DnDBeyond This sounds like a lot of backpeddling. We know we can few the spells in the books. We want the spells to be accessible with our characters and still be able to use them with our character sheets. We don't want all the spells updated to the 2024 versions and gave to homebrew the
@DnDBeyond Keep listening. Yes we expect our paid for compendium to still maintain its information. We also want our character sheets made with these spells and items to have access to these spells and items. Will this be the case?
@DnDBeyond I use DnDBeyond so I dont have to manually add my sheet to Roll20. The moment your products stops being convenient, I am unsubbing because it's purpose is lost. Im not going to add each spell from homebrew because you didnt think of adding a content toggle.
@DnDBeyond no need for clarification. your forcing people to use the 2024 rules. just add a toggles to dndbeyond to chose 2014 rules versions or 2024 rules version. I am not happy being forced to update to the rules before i am ready to.
@DnDBeyond I'm still reading that at some point, in the middle of my campaign, all of my players' character sheets will be partially on 2014 and partially on 2024, effectively rendering them unreliable. In what universe should I not seek out an alternative immediately?
@DnDBeyond So we’re still losing the 2014 spells from character sheets? This is the main complaint and you have not listened to what anyone has been saying. You are disrupting current users and their campaigns by doing this.
@DnDBeyond This didn't address anything. I use DnD Beyond for the character sheets! If I wanted to use pen and paper, I would have bought physical books! I'm paying for the digital character sheets! Just give us the option to toggle between '14 & '24 rules if we want.
