DeFi Dad is right, but so is StarkNet.
I spent 4 years building on StarkNet, because it was the best tech for what our team was building.
But I also spent 4 years hoping (and actively trying) to see BD and marketing at StarkNet function in a way that didnโt scare off builders, users, and investors.
Largely I think the issues came from a structure that is engineer focused, with community and marketing being second class citizens, under funded, and poorly staffed.
In addition to this, the delineation between StarkNet and StarkWare from an org level was poorly managed.
Marketing and comms were driven by StarkWare which was a mistake because those at StarkNet werenโt able to be fully in control of their own ship. (Hence why we saw cringe branding and comms that never cohesively took a consistent shape).
However, with that said, I believe a lot of that is being resolved or already done.
Today StarkNet is one of the few L2s still growing. Still shipping. Still providing novel open source research. AND most importantly their tech stack may actually be integral to keeping assets safe.
StarkNetโs founder co-founded Zcash, he was an early BTC adopter, huge supporter of Ethereum, and is now fully leaning into post quantum via StarkNet.
Itโs easy to hate, especially in the hellhole that crypto can be, but donโt ignore what theyโre building.
Long live StarkNet.
Hot take, CT:
Starknet outclasses Zcash in almost every technical dimension.
The tech isn't even close. The only thing keeping this a debate is your bags.
