@ThinkingDM Build a boat out of wood and gather the party.

Carefully fold the sheet and lay it on the boat, along with a few personal effects.

Set the boat down the river. Once the current takes it, nock a flaming arrow and shoot it onto the boat.

Have the bard softly sing as it burns.

The proximity to the battle, and all the open windows makes it easy for the Game Master to put pressure on the party if required - A crystalline wyrmling or duergar patrol could swoop in at any time!
