Rahm Emanuel wants Israel to abandon "Greater Israel" and brace for the end of unconditional US support.

Neither is real. No Israeli government has ever pursued Greater Israel — this one hasn't annexed a single dunam of Judea and Samaria. And "unconditional" support never existed: America has no defense treaty with Israel the way it does with Japan or South Korea, and Eisenhower, Ford and Baker each strong-armed Jerusalem with sanctions and frozen aid.

In other words: Israel must abandon a policy it does not have, because America is ending a policy it never had.

And this was billed as a sober analysis of the US-Israel relationship.
