It will ask you to fix the fields above but doesn't highlight the fields in question. The fields are also all filled out correctly.

YouTube's copyright system is deeply broken

Firstly YouTube has a LEGAL obligation to forward counter notifications that meet the legal requirements under 17 U.S.C. § 512(g). When YouTube doesn't do this creators lose the ability to reclaim falsely removed content. Which is what has happened in my case.

YouTube frequently states that "We're not able to verify licensing agreements or evaluate claims of fair use or fair dealing." but they're still more than happy to reject counter notifications as "Based on the information you provided, it appears that you do not have the necessary rights to post the content on YouTube." despite these cases arguing fair use.

Everything they do is contradictory but they're able to get away with it as they know small creators have very little recourse against them.

Why do they do this? We can only speculate, as to not following these rules puts their "Safe Harbor" protection into question. Which is what prevents them getting sued for copyrighted content being uploaded to their platform.

Personally I think YouTube gives preferential treatment to larger entities in the dispute process as they fear larger corporations over the small individuals.

YouTube support aren't very useful when it comes to copyright issues. I have tried multiple times to explain the issue to no avail, all they do is repeat the same copy and paste replies.

YouTube is REQUIRED BY LAW to send/forward counter notifications that meet the legal requirements yet refuse to do so.

YouTube tells me that they can't evaluate claims of fair use but frequently do.

If you'd like to look over the counter notification again (as it meets the legal requirements) then case number is "7BEXZNIE4KLASG7KQUYKG3IP7M"

Please resolve this issue before I have to take legal action just to get my counter notification through to the claimant.

My counter was properly formatted, legally compliant, and submitted in good faith — yet it was rejected without any clear explanation.

- The content is transformative and includes original commentary

- The counter meets all legal requirements under
Section 512(g) of the DMCA

- YouTube has stated it will no longer review further counter submissions for my channel

This raises serious concerns about transparency and due process. Section 512(g) exists specifically to protect creators from wrongful takedowns — but when that process is blocked or ignored, what recourse do we have?

I've contacted @EFF for guidance, but it shouldn't take legal intervention just to have our rights under the DMCA respected.
