In this interview, Mme Marah Louw shared one of the secrets old people used to keep. She says she had a sister named Trueblue Mabasotho, whom she knew as her sibling. She called her Aus Mabasotho.

Aus Mabasotho died after she was set alight by her boyfriend. While grieving the loss of her sister, Marah later found out that the sister she knew was actually her mother. Imagine finding out, after she was long gone, that she was actually your mom.

You were lied to by your grandparents, whom you knew as your parents, and you were also lied to by the woman you knew as your sister, who was actually your mother.

So Aus Mabasotho was born in 1934 and Marah Louw was born in 1952, which means she gave birth to her at the age of 18. Because the grandparents didn’t want to be embarrassed, they kept this secret from everyone to protect their own image and standing in the community.

Guys, how many other lies exist in black families? I would say it’s an old thing, but even today some people call their mothers “Aus” when they are actually their mothers

REST IN PEACE: Two Teenagers Found Dead at Mpumalanga Lodge 💔🕊️

On Monday, 3 August 2026, the bodies of two teenagers were discovered in a lodge room in Sabie, Mpumalanga.

The victims have been identified as 17-year-old Cameron Waldeck-Cooks, a Grade 11 student at St Stithians Girls’ College, and 19-year-old Ethan Coetzee, who completed his matriculation at St Stithians Boys’ College in 2025.
