Couldn't agree more @jessewldn.
I shared a similar belief from the perspective of building privacy tools on my livestream with @OctantApp this week.
People will always try to ban things they don't understand - we saw this with crypto, we are seeing it with AI, it becomes tangible when companies ban AI assistants from access, or when people call for my arrest for building resilient networking products. Ultimately, these experiments will pave the way for larger opportunities and new movements that inevitably shape society.
I feel like I have a responsibility to break the rules and continue fighting the uphill battle.
One way to predict the future of technology is to look at who's breaking the rules today.
BitTorrent paved the way for Spotify. Bitcoin made stablecoins possible.
@jessewldn on how permissionless experimentation reveals latent demand that incumbents haven't figured out how to serve.
Yeah the vulnerabilities that extend from internet use go far beyond connected devices, and have a real potential to disrupt a lot of physical operations.
Initially with our unified stack, organizations could simply save backhaul costs and become more efficient. But recently, we are becoming more cognizant of our role in lowering their vulnerability to network outages and disruptions, as well providing an alternative form of protection against a growing threat from cyber threats and unauthorized access from malicious actors.
Would love to grab coffee in NYC otherwise happy to hop on a call soon, will dm! :)
Never wrong, just early.
I’ve been talking about the fragility and vulnerability of our current Internet since 2024, back when I started Offline Protocol. What Jay calls the Antifragile Internet is what we call the third network (telecom, internet, the new alternative), and Offline Protocol has been building relentlessly at the forefront of this vertical for 2 years.
In this duration we’ve built essential infra across device issued identity, resilient online and offline networking, replication-free data, agent <> machine coordination, and recently private on-device intelligence.
We have demoed some cool examples on our stack this year across local IoT communication, robotic coordination, agent to agent services marketplace, delegate access for local inference, private model training runs, smart sensor telemetry ops, autonomous fleet communication, and much more.
Our infrastructure has already been used on almost 500,000 devices and we continue to add new features and bindings for connected hardware and devices almost weekly. Would love to help more products and organizations become resilient.
We need an "Antifragile Internet" built for the agentic era.
The hacks over the past few days (PHP, Railway, eMudhra, LiteLLM etc) show how fragile the existing Internet has become. AI agents are challenging the Internet's structure in 3 distinct ways:
1/ On the offense side, agents are a weapon - AI finds and exploits bugs on a scale not seen before, and the cost of attack asymptotes to 0. Bugs that used to take human experts weeks and months are easily found, adapted, and exploited by AI agents. Decades of legacy code that ran on "security by obscurity" no longer holds against agents.
2/ On the defense side, agents are a target - AI generated code is often bug-prone. AI agents themselves, as machines of unconstrained output are liable to prompt injections and other types of attacks that can leak keys, PII, and other pieces of information.
3/ On the identity side, agents are dominating Internet activity - this year, machine traffic has already passed human traffic, and may continue to grow 1000x over the next few years. Content and webpages used to human requests and behavior are breaking with agents, and it is increasingly difficult to tell human content from AI content.
All this means we will need to see a ground-up redesigning of the Internet, one with more cryptographic verifiability, identity protocols, rule-enforcement, and other security primitives that eliminate bug categories rather than simply patch them - an "Antifragile Internet" that gets stronger and more secure as more agents participate in it.
This is an emerging thesis area for us at @usv, if you're building in the space please reach out!
More thoughts soon.
Please spend time with your loved ones.
I kept thinking I’m going to call my grandpa all day yesterday, but got too caught up with work, and now I can’t do that anymore.
Just please call your family right now, go visit them, don’t make the same mistake as me.
Our SDK offers developers endless possibilities at the intersection of intelligence and hardware.
This thread from @bahdotsh provides several examples of how home automation and device ownership delegation can be solved, locally and privately.

hopchat also talk to your smart devices available in the network through a small model running on the laptop. "@ home make the lamp purple" goes straight to the bulb over the local network.
And not just the smart bulb, your TVs, printers and copiers as well!
Shitting on Railway or any service providers at this moment is counterproductive for the entire industry. These are some of the most audited and secure platforms that keep most of our internet operational, we all need to accept that we're in unprecedented times and work together.
Railway has disclosed a security incident, and out of caution, we're replacing every credential our services use.
Since Railway's deploys are currently paused, some Offline Protocol services and features may be slow or unavailable, and you may be asked to sign in again once the rotation is complete. We're monitoring closely and will bring everything back as soon as possible.
This is an important precaution to keep our users safe. Thanks for your patience.
New release alert!
SDK 0.30 is smaller and works with more of your stack.
• Up to 6x smaller libraries. The iOS framework drops from 138 MB to 23 MB.
• New C, Java and Flutter (preview) bindings, so almost any device or backend can join.
• Steadier Bluetooth LE under heavy traffic, plus a telemetry security fix.
For teams whose devices, apps and agents find each other and share data directly, end-to-end encrypted.
Try it out today!

We just launched Palantir for booking meetings.
The last 14 days, companies like @MonacoGTM , @Nowadaysai, @Rippling , @salesforce , @marketercom, @posthog , and @retellai spent $100k+ with us on literal cakes.
From today, Daymaker finds your prospects, reads their entire digital footprint, buys the one gift that makes their day, and gets you the meeting.
Comment your name and I'll reply with everything Daymaker finds on you and the gift it would send you. If you dare. 🎁
Mad respect as always to @sxtvik, he is often early and right with these takes
Which is why I’m proud to support @OfflineProtocol for a truly decentralized future, not a “sufficiently decentralized” one
