✍🏼💛Writer Lee Si Eun on Hye Yoon being her muse & Solie

As I planned, wrote, and the narrative of Im Sol deepened, I thought it would not be easy to portray the character as bright as she is while also expressing sad emotions.

Solie is bright & lovely but I thought, that because she injured her legs, due to the accident she stopped growing when she reached her 30s due to the painful accident. She is pure & bright but she also has deep pain in her heart due to this, so I wondered who could portray & act bright while retaining sadness.

I watched 'The Girl Riding a Bulldozer' I've only watched her (HY) portray bright characters so there weren't many scenes where she explodes w emotions & I could see Solie's expression being filled w a lot of emotion despite her cold & harsh expression (kinda like she cross-referenced her character in TGOB w Solie's expression). At first, I didn't think I would do it (write LR & Sol's character) but I thought about Solie and thought, it would be nice to have an actor like this (Hye Yoon).

From then on, I wrote the script with Kim Hye Yoon in my head and I did not think she would do it for sure (take on the role).

Thankfully, after I had worked on the script a lot, I was grateful that she willingly came to be my Solie when the casting (script) was offered. I was touched & I couldn't believe it 'She's really going to be my Sol?' I couldn't believe it. Is she (Hye Yoon) really doing it? I kept asking, I called the director and screamed "kyak!"

I think the starting point & reason why this project was able to receive so much love is because of Solie & because Solie came to us. Hye Yoonie, (as) Sol is like fate to me. I am grateful for I wrote Sol because of you (Hye Yoon). Thank you, you worked hard.

✍🏼💙 Writer Lee Si Eun on Woo Seok becoming Sunjae & how grateful she is

Regarding the casting of Byeon Woo Seok, writer Lee Si Eun said, "I think it's a process that all dramas go through when casting the male lead. Sunjae (Byeon Woo Seok) says he's thankful for letting him play Sunjae. From a writer's perspective, we needed an actor who is a good fit for Sunjae, they needed to be a swimmer, someone who could act as a high school student, a college student & someone in their 30s. There weren't any sutable actors so I had to keep looking at who would fit this image well. After watching '20th Century Girl' I thought, I really like this actor & the image he has.

They wear the same school uniform (similar) & it's also a story from the past, why didn't I find it earlier (talking about 20th Century Girl)? Why didn't I see it sooner? I was so happy when I heard he accepted the role & would be Sunjae. I thought "He's going to be Sunjae?" from then now, Byeon Woo Seok was already Sunjae. We had our first meeting at a cafe & as he was walking in, I thought Sunjae was walking in. As if in slow motion, Sunjae was walking towards me. I told Sunjae this & told him, "Thank you for being Sunjae." I kept wondering if the Sunjae I had imagined would be able to exist (be portrayed as she imagined him) but he came to me in this form & I felt like it was fate & I am grateful.

🎥 Director Kim Tae Yeop praising Hye Yoon to be an outstanding actor & even better human

As you all know well, Kim Hye Yoon is outstanding as an actor. But what I was grateful for while directing on set was that just by watching this drama you'd know the heroine worked very hard & went through a lot, the situation at the actual set was very difficult as well. We had to film summer scenes in the middle of winter, it was physically & mentally difficult.

Also, she had to film scenes with a wide range of emotions which in my view, it would've been a very difficult situation for any human being but she handled it with such a great attitude on set. In addition to the actress (respectfully referring to Hye Yoon) focusing on acting, I really respect her attitude towards the staff & other actors as well. She is also great as a human being. Other actors did the same as well & I am very grateful for that.

🎥 Praising Hye Yoon & calling her crazy (in the best way possible)

While watching the drama, there was a comment saying,
"No you're telling me this scene (ep2 ending) & this scene (ep13) was shot on the same day? Isn't Kim Hye Yoon totally crazy??" I had the exact same thoughts!

She shot ep2 ending scene, running with the umbrella in the rain saying 'Ahjussi' So we shot the scene, she was really good!! After that we had to prepare for ep13 right away. So from 'Ahjussi' & giving him candies brightly, Hye Yoon starts sobbing and crying & the scenes were done like this. Hye Yoon and I have a fifteen-year age difference. But I still respect Hye Yoon so much."

Director Kim Tae Yeop respects Kim Hye Yoon not just as an actor but even more so as a person.

Director Kim Tae Yeop of Lovely Runner gave a special lecture at Dongguk University & could not stop praising Kim Hye Yoon as an actress & person. He mentioned that Lovely Runner ep2 ending & ep13 ending were shot on the same day & they only received the ep13 a day before the shoot.

This means Hye Yoon only had less than a day to prepare for it as we saw how she dissected her script. Her intelligence is beyond anything we can imagine, truly. And the scene both Hye Yoon & Woo Seok created together with barely any preparations, absolutely mindblowing.
