Precedent for Tinker vs. Des Moines was a 1966 case where Mississippi hs students bravely protested Freedom Summer killings and segregation with buttons saying “One Man, One Vote. SNCC.” They were suspended for wearing "freedom buttons," went to court, & won in Burnside v. Byars.
