Although I am still amazed about the amount of MIT App tutorials shared online, it is difficult to find information that can fit exactly to what I am planning to do. Found 1 The Coding Bus youtube vid useful to what I need.

I think the recent innovative sports gadget that caught my eye is the single dumbbell/kettlebell that gains or drops weight magnetically. This can save costs & space especially for those who are unable to or dislike going to the gym.

The sharing of the prototypes were innovative & interesting! I can foresee many ideas can be adopted & improved in the future. It will definitely help to increase convenience & our quality of life. Helps that concerns were also raised such as ethical issues.

After the mini-Hackathon, I learn that you can also choose to develop a basic app for your own use. Especially, when you want to have something tailored to fit the results & means from your training plan. e.g. the Volleyball net proximity app

As the saying goes, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.", & quoting Seth Gobin: "Don't find customers for your product. Find products for your customer.". The end-users will be the decision-makers on whether the apps are useful & innovative.
#SS3621_reflection pt. 5 (Wk7)
I too find my group's app useful despite it being niche. (archery sensor) Archers would appreciate the app a lot as it can saved them loads of time & energy to search the arrows, as well as money since the arrows could cost a limb (or several...).
#SS3621_reflection pt. 3 (Wk7)
Perhaps, it can ease the worry for safety due to missing arrows in the field too, since the fields used in SG are multi-purpose which means other activities like playing soccer or running barefoot on field grass occur often..

2) People w/o lower limb injuries could also use the walking gait app to catch their hips dropping & correct them. It can also be cost-effective especially who cannot afford to pay for therapeutic fees.
#SS3621_reflection pt. 2 (Wk7)
IMO, the MIT Apps for visually impaired runners & walking gait are pretty meaningful as it can be applied and value-add to the lives of the people in need of them.
1) It means it allows them to feel more independent & empowered (run app).

With 4th I.R., internal services for the Hospitality, Tourism & Service industries can get upgraded. E.g. POS, Hotel Reservation & Housekeeping software & etc.
As a result, it can increase the efficiency & productivity at the back-of-the-house to better serve guests.

I think the Smart Nation Movement encourages potential tech-savvy businesses to invest & establish a base in SG. It also allows existing businesses to be more tech-savvy as the end-users in Singapore are now more open to tech. E.g. omnichannel commerce in Decathlon.

Caught a glimpse on how we use API & machine learning to gather & process big data in this week's lesson. I am able to better understand and connect the content I learnt from the modules taught in school and online.

COVID-19 could have pushed the pace up for the 4th Industrial Revolution. Technology world become more advanced and perhaps, how we perceive and value our work, way of live and communication means could change vastly.
#SS3621_4ir
Since the technology boom when it all started with smartphones, it is very forward-thinking to explore technological possibilities that can further boost our relevance to the world and having Smart Nation SG will provide a clearer path in attaining the goals set.

After the assessment, I find that understanding the basics and concepts are important. It helps that peers around me and the online community are helpful and have provided loads of information to learn from.

Reading about Singapore's Mini Maker Faire, I find D&T classes in secondary school can help hone the Maker Movement among the younger generation. It incorporates design thinking and creating the product from scratch.

While revising for the MIT App assessment, I came across abundant information, particularly introductory and explanatory videos on each of the coding block category.
This is something I find useful when learning about the basics:

It's a challenge to know where I should start building the blocks in MIT App as well as to quickly visualise & connect the coding blocks to the interface tools.
I realise that constant practice is a must to familiarise ourselves with the thinking process.

Playing around with Vid 4 Tut:
to have lap counter show ascending numbers in the listview.
Change "add items to item - 1"
to "add items to item - get global sum"
After the 4th MIT App video tutorial, I wondered how Swimming uses tech to count laps now instead of purely relying on timekeeping officials. I like how they utilise existing tech - the touch pad instead of incorporating another device.
