Many are blaming the students, but it was outsiders who entered LPU and created chaos on campus.

How were outsiders able to enter the university and create havoc? Many female students have spoken about feeling unsafe and scared because of the presence of these outsiders.

Students’ safety and security cannot be compromised. Punjab Police must investigate and answer how this happened.

Content critical of the government is being taken down by Meta following requests from the Govt. Accounts of several content creators exposing failures of the system are also being taken down.

So to me, this decision looks less about protecting children and more about protecting the carefully manufactured image of the “Supreme Leader” built over the last 12 years.

All these years the BJP controlled the narrative through mainstream media and WhatsApp.

But Instagram is a different battlefield. Gen Z has used it to question, mock and challenge political propaganda in ways that are far harder to control. And now Gen Alpha is coming of age online.

Restrictions on minors may sound reasonable on paper in the name of online safety. But it is fair to ask whether there is another motive too: stopping Gen Alpha from doing what Gen Z did. Even 15 and 16-year-olds are openly mocking the Prime Minister and those in power.

If the Centre is genuinely concerned about young people online, it should focus on making the internet safer for them. Start by cracking down on accounts that harass and abuse girls online, not by silencing an entire generation.

A university campus should be one of the safest places for a woman. If women don’t feel safe even inside their hostels, we have a serious problem.

It’s 2026. Women should not have to protest, plead or fight for something as basic as their safety.
