@turbopisser This is also compounded with American cultural socialization of isolated consumption, and the cherry on top that any political violence is immediately converted into entertainment commodity. Matt Christman talks about this at length.
@turbopisser The impossibility of a modern day John Brown lies in his level of devotion. It’s not possible to hold a faith so unshakable, in religion or any other cause. There’s too much contradictory information around. John Brown died the same year Darwin released On the Origin of Species.
@thamosdeaf Incredibly well-crafted, achingly funny romance that explores desire, control, class and subjugation. Also one of the most beautiful movies ever filmed. All timer performance from DDL in the lead role. Impeccable writing. It’s, like, a perfect movie dude.
@corpseinorbit Bianca O’Blivion and Barry Convex from Videodrome are close, but a bit too on the nose I think. Brigadier Pudding is not named that for any reason you’re thinking.
@Mr_Ora_ @TheLazyGenius77 @June_catira@moduscrap@Dromie__ You are completely lost. There is no hope for you. When you die, you’ll look back on a wasted life. Time sunken into baseless, useless arguments for simulated excitement in a life completely devoid of it. Learn to learn. Fix yourself before the dread makes you hang yourself.
@jrmamana I also just think he’s not a good guy. Running out on his wife and kids, weird greediness with the Nirvana masters, seems like a guy who found himself successful at the turn of the century and decided to ride the cynical wave of economic enrichment.
@muaddibstyle Literally just is the show. It’s mohan’s entire character arc over both seasons. Slo-mo no more to a full blown panic attack. It’s really funny to compare watching the show with my friends and coworkers to the Pitt Twitter discourse.
@TheChrisLambert I think Denis is too attracted to spectacle to effectively communicate grief or loss or anguish while staying grounded. In Arrival, for instance, he’s able to transcend the limitations of our everyday lives to create a more evocative picture of the loss of a child. IMO of course.
