🔎 NEED TO IDENTIFY 🔍
We are seeking the public’s help to identify a man believed to be responsible for a violent assault in downtown Calgary.
📍 At approx. 1:46 a.m., on Sunday, June 14, 2026, we were called to reports of an assault near the intersection of Stephen Avenue & 2 Street S.W.
🔎 Investigators believe three men were waiting for transportation when they observed a man & woman engaged in what appeared to be a verbal argument. One of the men then approached the woman to check on her well-being. Investigators believe the male suspect then assaulted all three victims without warning.
Two of the victims suffered serious injuries requiring medical treatment. The third victim sustained minor injuries.
After the incident, the suspect fled northbound on 2 Street S.W. The woman left the area separately with a group of other women.
Investigators have obtained security footage from the area & are now asking for the public’s help to identify the suspect. While there is no clear view of the male suspect's face, investigators believe his distinctive clothing may be recognizable.
📣 Anyone who witnessed the incident, recognizes the suspect, was with the pair earlier in the evening, or works at a nearby restaurant, bar or business and may know their identities, is asked to contact police.

🔎 INFORMATION SOUGHT 🔍
We are asking for the public’s help to identify a man who may have information regarding a shooting that occurred earlier this month in the southeast.
📍 On Friday, June 5, 2026, at approx. 10:55 p.m., police responded to reports of a shooting at a residence in the 1300 block of 14 Avenue S.E.

I lived in Calgary’s Beltline for 15 years.
Not for 10 days. For 15 years.
People who don’t live downtown seem to forget that there are actual residents there. We aren’t just background scenery for festivals, bars, events, and tourism.
Stampede is amazing for the city. I get it.
But for those of us who lived it, it wasn’t 10 days of inconvenience. It was years of late-night noise, road closures, crowds, public drunkenness, and trying to sleep while music and partying carried on into the early hours of the morning.
I’ve heard all the complaints about the City’s recent decisions and all the jokes about the “fun police.”
Here’s my question: when do residents get considered?
The City gave notice. Plenty of notice.
Businesses matter. Tourism matters. Stampede matters.
But so do the people who actually live there.
I own a company. During Stampede, my team and I are up early cleaning the Airbnb properties being used by the very people partying all night. While others are celebrating, we’re working.
Getting home at midnight and listening to music until nearly 4 a.m. isn’t fun when you’re responsible for employees, clients, and running a business the next day.
This isn’t about stopping people from having fun.
It’s about recognizing that Calgary is a city, not just a 10-day party.
Residents deserve consideration too.
Fuck off to all the conservatives that are butting their nose in and you have no right to be.
Stay in your fucking lane namely, the premier of this province.@ABDanielleSmith

Michelle, that is false.
The City did not change the rules days before Stampede. Operators who ran past midnight last year were told in February that updated conditions would apply. Cowboys was told again in May.
The exemption was conditional. It depended on operators managing noise, safety, and impacts on nearby residents. They did not meet that standard.
We are taking public safety in our downtown seriously. Last year several hundred people brought complaints. People reported property damage, windows shaking, items falling from shelves, music until 2 a.m., disorder, and excessive intoxication spilling into nearby neighbourhoods.
The City still permits concerts until midnight on weeknights, with cool-down music past midnight. Weekend concerts run until 1:30 a.m., with cool-down music until 2 a.m.
No gets a free pass to disturb residents or create unsafe conditions. A great city backs major events and holds operators accountable.
