There are 2 real reasons Marvel had to shrink Hulk 👀

Back in The Avengers, Hulk was basically a 10-foot, 1,500-pound walking nuclear bomb. He was smashing skyscraper-sized Leviathans and tossing Loki around like a ragdoll. But now, he feels small enough to casually sit in a diner like a normal person.

The first reason is simple: he became too powerful to handle in the story. The Russo Brothers even admitted that characters like Hulk are incredibly difficult to write around. If he stayed at that level, he could’ve ended major fights especially against Thanos within minutes. So Marvel had to nerf him to keep the narrative balanced.

The second reason is psychological. In Marvel comics, Hulk’s size is directly tied to Bruce Banner’s rage and trauma the angrier he gets, the bigger he becomes. But after spending 18 months merging into Smart Hulk, Banner essentially removed that uncontrolled rage. Less anger naturally meant a smaller Hulk.

Still, it raises an interesting question: if you were directing a Marvel movie, how would you even handle a character like Hulk without completely breaking the story?
