This is why I always encourage artists to draw what they love. It gives them the courage and excitement to try. It makes learning exciting and feel worth it.

Draw your favorite character shamelessly and watch yourself level up faster than ever.

Any time a painting feels scary or impossible, I have a hack I use to get through that feeling.

Paint it badly. As many times as possible & as quickly as possible.

By the 10th time, you start to realize nothing about the concept is scary enough that you can't at least try.

Today is my birthday, I'd love if people would share my art 🥰🖤

[sʏʟᴇssᴀᴇ ♕ @sylessae]

It's okay. 💛 It feels bad to feel like your work isn't noticed, I'm sorry about that. Sometimes a lack of response can look like someone not caring when they don't respond, but I can promise on my end its 100% that social media can be exhausting and more often than not I respond to whatever shows up and I have the spoons for. Sometimes that means I can't reach others, but I think it's awesome that you shared. It's vulnerable to share.

@sariberryvt good luck Sari!!!

@ollmecagent So by your definition, even if someone has skill or talent, it's still not art unless other people say it is?

Why are other people allowed to define that (somehow objectively even though it's still with their opinions) but the person making the art is not?

[sʏʟᴇssᴀᴇ ♕ @sylessae]

@Cly_1705 Congrats on starting!! Would love to see more of your journey <3

[sʏʟᴇssᴀᴇ ♕ @sylessae]

@ollmecagent What does it mean to "objectively" be an artist?
