Romania’s 🇷🇴 economic statistics are, in general, incredibly weird. I have repeatedly taken Romania out of charts I was making because it just seemed so far out there.
1.) The Bucharest metro area comes out as one of the richest in Europe, richer per capita than Geneva or Copenhagen (in PPS). Its GDP grew by 33% in five years, roughly Shenzhen-level growth, while the regions surrounding Bucharest shrank by more than 5%.
2.) Labour productivity per employed person in ICT and in professional, scientific and technical services is, in nominal terms (!!!), on par with or even higher than in Germany, and it swings wildly from year to year.
3.) Romania has higher actual individual consumption per capita than Czechia or Slovenia, which are well ahead of it in GDP per capita. This is fuelled by a near-zero or even negative household saving rate, the largest budget deficit in the EU and a current account deficit of around 8% of GDP.
Depending on which statistic you pick, Romania looks either like an absolute rocket or like an economy on the verge of collapse. My guess is that a lot of this is measurement rather than reality: a huge shadow economy that has to be estimated, millions of emigrants making “per capita” figures shaky, tax regimes that reshuffle how work and income get reported, companies booking their output at Bucharest headquarters, and national PPPs flattering an expensive capital.
I should visit Bucharest.
Wow, much improvement, this should have been solved in Vista days(I use the browser for web search, I use windows search for my files/apps), also @microsoft, please fix the lag of the search result, so the list in search result don't switch in the last second, use keyboard keys.
Microsoft is making some BIG changes to Windows Search. It's dropping the annoying ads, decluttering the UI, and prioritizing local results over web ones. Looks like some genuinely great changes 🙏 https://t.co/fBnMfcWz0A
I'm excited to share that I've joined eYou as an Early Believer.
In a landscape of noise, I'm betting on The Social Media You Can Trust. I have a few invite spots to help my network join the waitlist.

@WindowsCentral If you switch from insider to normal and format the ssd, the bios won't boot the repair usb for a while, until the certificate is up to date
Fact check: Microsoft is not releasing Windows 12 in 2026.
Microsoft is also not building a subscription-based version of Windows.
One publisher posted an AI-generated speculative piece, then other AI-driven sites scraped it, rewrote it, and published the same claim as “news.”
After that, users on X and Reddit started assuming it was real, even though in reality it’s just an AI hallucination.
Criticizing Microsoft as “Microslop” while spreading fake AI slop cannot go hand in hand!
🇲🇩Pro-Russian blogger gets brutally shut down on the streets of Chișinău
During a street interview on one of the central streets, a guy approached a passing woman and asked in Russian: “What’s the best folk song?”
“Long live and prosper Moldova, Transylvania, and Great Romania!” — the girl answered in the official language of her country.
The “Russian world” fails the language check once again 😅
The state of popular Windows 11 apps and their RAM management is concerning, especially as RAM prices continue to rise.
1. Discord is always 1GB and even hits up to 4GB
2. WhatsApp is now a web app, not a native app, and RAM usage is frequently 1GB
3. Microsoft Teams, also a web app, uses 1GB+ RAM
Is it really that difficult to build native and resources-optimized apps for these companies?
@NorthFaceHiker Congratulations!! As an Windows insider I thank you for everything you have done so far. Quick question: do you have any ideea if Microsoft in planning to release a phone suitable OS? I have really love Windows Phone and I miss it L.
@iamann2489 La mine la nuntă a fost muzica retro în mare, puțin rock, și techno, a fost și populară pentru ca eu și soția suntem din zone diferite a țării așa ca a fost muzica populara din ambele zone. Dar fără manele.
